Chiiiiiiina is gonna extract so many concessions; server, mobile pay, ZTEs access to modems........blah blah.........that the end deal for Q will be really really thin soup.
Q has telegraphed clearly how much it is desperate to get this deal done, Chiiiiiiina knows they can get all they want and Trrrrrump will give them some more chocolate cake.
@1heo You are only repeating what you continuously hear from the government. In China, corporations don't bother with setting up diversity officers, girls who code camps, etc. Universities don't bother giving women scholarships for engineering degrees. In China, women go into engineering almost as much as men. There is NOTHING SPECIAL about the technology that either country is developing. It's just a matter of how much effort you put into it. And China is able to throw both more people and money at developing technology, so they're already ahead of the U.S. (or will be soon). The government tells you that China is stealing our secrets because they want to make you feel better. Making you feel better is all the U.S. government can do because they can't afford to invest as much money on technology as China due to all the wars they fight.

China is ahead of the U.S. in AI, ML, and quantum computing. Best example of AI in U.S. is Amazon Go store (which is amazing) and China does not have something comparable, but China is ahead overall. The story that China is stealing America's secrets is spin by the U.S. government for nationalistic reasons and to falsely give the world the impression that only they can innovate. ICs are a commodity, and that's probably the only reason China bought from the U.S., but that will change soon.
I hope people wakeup and get out of their bubbles as TH once said. China pour billions into AI and ML locally while US geoshift tech job to India ..... Who will win the AI war?!
There's nothing special now about making a processor or SOC. China won't need the US anymore for chips soon. Kirin is on par with Snapdragon. It was big mistake for the US to fine ZTE, probably just because they upset Israel by selling to Iran.
