Just curious if this is working out or not. Do you think it will be rolled out to all clubs? I'm really curious about but receiving part of it.

You are correct 32 years ago there were no night crews and clubs opened at 12:00 and then moved to 10:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays but times have changed. Back in those days we didn't have to have everything looking picture perfect like we are suppose to now and sales were less and we had more people with less sales and lower standards. We are a warehouse with pallet driven merchandise they cringe ifthey see a splinter on the floor. Our overnight receiving spends the entire night unloading and slotting freight, hell I don't even think they take breaks because they cant get finished. If they do take there breaks then a Walmart trailer wont get finished unloaded and the lovely drivers who think they are UNION and think they have a right to b--ch at you runs there mouth. 2-3 WalMarts a night, water everynight sometimes 2
trucks , fresh and freezer/cooler 7 days a week , P&G 3 times a week, G pacific twice a week and then you morning vendors that start at 2 am but yea they going to get all this done in the mornings.
In our market the two clubs that I know of switching are 8251 and 6252. That being said there are clubs in our Region who have tried this and it worked well. The issue is they are more rural clubs who don't do the volume we do. Don't have hundreds of pallets coming in EVERY day that have to be run and slotted like we do.
Which club are you starting july 7 for the no overnight? We just had AES meeting our GM said it happening not sure on time frame though. Because there are a few clubs in our market that are doing it.
@indiana team lead. You likely won't. I don't foresee it working out very well in the long term for the clubs it's rolling out in. That said it's only being rolled out in Day receiving clubs at this time. That is to say clubs that for whatever reason, usually local noise ordinances etc can't do the majority of their receiving at night. The disconnect is that while we don't unload trucks at night due to the noise ordinance. There is still someone who runs freight for 8 hours a night clearing the dock of all the trucks the day receiving team unloaded but couldn't run due to members being on the floor. I expect freight to be piled up in our club rather quickly and trucks to be backed up due to the change.
Ill believe all of this when I actually see it. Im an Overnight Lead, We have had no word on this yet at all in our club, and Im in Indiana
Yes, early shopping hours was one benefit of Plus membership.
Don’t think they are getting rid of the early shopping hours. But we will wait and see .
The biggest selling point was to give business members time before 10am, without that get ready for complaints.
Yea in theory the time we open reverts back to 10am. No more 7am. That’s one reason they push click and pull and prepay so hard
Hell we so short handed it’s not even funny anymore. The pay isn’t enough to keep people for the work they expect😢
When I started 32 years ago we only had day receiving no nights but we opened at 10:00.
Our club doesn't start it until july 7th. But for what it's worth I think it's going to be a nightmare. All time when the floor is clear of members is going to be RUSH RUSH RUSH to get freight off the dock and up into the steal. Then we're expected to do ALL stocking while members are on the floor. So if they thought clubs weren't looking great WITH night crews having 8 hours to stock with member free floors they are going to be rudely awakened by how the clubs look after the roll out.
