Keebler/Kelloggs having nationwide meeting end of august to address snack sales decline. (No rumor- Confirmed). This date is no coincidence as Aug. 28 will be 1 year since DSD was terminated and right before Nabisco DSD will most likely end. The 1 year meets federal guidelines for union & mass layoffs and they signed only a 1 year exclusive contract with many warehouses in certain market areas. They could legally re-boot DSD entirely but most likely in select markets only, congested areas like metro NY etc., where warehousing is not working well, but without 90% of their previous overhead and capitalize on Nabisco's eventual exit as Nabisco did to them. Trailers would go directly to master distributors who would provide in store merchandising & DSD at their expense not Kellogg's. All this is the FIRST answer to big box retailers demanding lower prices in response to internet company intrusion in the retail food market as well as securing their bottom line as food tastes are changing as they figure out how to change with it. It's inevitable Nabisco will follow the same model as well as other big DSD entities.

We will exit dsd when our retailers tell us to! Very simple! We may be committed to dsd but they aren’t!

FYI, Keebler is NOT returning to dsd! That is a rumor being spread by management, which fuels the fire we are exiting as well!

I'm not going to argue if we are leaving DSD I'm just saying your time frame when you take everything into account doesn't make sense I see the earliest we pull out is January 2019 during our slump right after holidays. Its taken months for the cao roll out in those 2 chains do your really think 3 months is enough for everywhere else to do that? And we haven't seen any test item come through walmart's or krogrrs warehouse yet. For kebler Walmart went warehouse 1st months ahead of the rest. I'm saying as soon as they go that's signals the last 3-6 months we will be out here

How do you know Keebler is returning to DSD?

The retailers are driving this decision. They are taking back business one company at a time to make sure they handle the transition. Dsd is ending, nobody knows an exact date but my “guess” would be 2018. Not sure how much longer Dirk can operate at a deficit in NA, he was hired to turn a profit! Changes are coming, I firmly believe that!

With companies like Hostess and Kebbler showing Nabisco that the warehouse model works it was only a matter of time that Nabisco would look into the same model and sadly to say they are going to take the same route. No costly insurance, merchandisers, sales reps, drivers, less warehouse workers by closing branches, trucks, trailers, pensions, MCLs, and so much more. This is what America has become less n less blue collar jobs available. 👺👺👺

DSD might be going away or staying who knows! But I do see Mondelez going 3rd party logistics. Which means sales force will probably be downsized. Our warehouse and drivers work will be done by Ryder,DHL or someone else other then Mondelez employees.

Senior management has clarity, they are just waiting until 60 days prior to share! A decision of this magnitude does not occur overnight! It has been in the works for years...and years!! They will share when they are required to by law to try to keep the wheels from falling off at the end stretch! Watch and wait!

Just had our conference call for CAO. it wasnt sean harkins but it was the other VP talking. he made the comment "the cao has proven and will be the better order writer than any human order write" then i think he quickly realized what he said and moved on to the next point.

Sales Reps won't need to tweak orders anymore after the program has mastered the stores. and to think kroger is on its way to CAO for vendors as well.

hehe haha ho ho off to the funny farm i go

Whose they! Kroger and WM, they are gonna life money without you? Hahaha! They are gonna make a lot more money without you! That’s why they are eliminating dsd! Mo money, mo money, mo money! Oh we’re going somewhere alright, the unemployment line! That’s what all this CAO package downsizing, branch consolidation,

Etc is all about! Not just a “new way of doing business”, that’s funny! With NA sales where they are, we are not in a place to revolutionize dsd! Pluck your head from under the rock and look around!! Don’t be caught flat footed!!

I dont believe we will continue the dsd model. I looked at our numbers for sales and revenue and they continue to decline. In this culture of constant downward pressue on costs from stores and our own management its no longer profitable. After all the layoffs and outsourcing we are still trending in the red. We cant compete with prices. I realize its your job to glorify dsd and misinform but the facts are the facts.

http://smartbrief.com/s/2018/02/ceo-mondelez-evaluating-dsd-part-strategic-review

Mondelez CEO Dirk Van de Put said direct-store delivery has been "powerful" for the company's US biscuits category, but the company is performing a cost-benefit analysis to determine whether to continue its DSD strategy in the future. "It's part of our strategic review," Van de Put said. "We hope to have clarity near the middle of the year."

Yep, just CAO! Nothing gonna change. We got a new CEO just cause we were doing so well even though the numbers say different. Two largest retailers in the US are going CAO, and we’ve agreed to “test” it with them,

event though it is beyond time consuming! Keebler went warehouse and sold all their depots, let go of 95% of their NA sales force, and invested tremendous resources in the warehouse infrastructure, but one year later they have decided to go back to dsd!

Hahahahahaha, so people may be off on the exact date, but they got their heads wrapped around reality!! Others are in such denial it’s pathetic!! Dsd will end, it won’t be long! Company cannot continue to operate as is, unless we aren’t in it to make money! Kinda don’t think that’s the case!

Nobody knows but Dirk and his senior management team at mondelez, and of course the retailers who are the driving force! End of day we will find out when we find out! It is happening regardless!! My “guess” would be 2018, we are too close and retailers are about all set up! Not sure how much longer they can afford to not do it!

It’s not happening in September and no announcement in July. Dirk said he would have a strategy ready by September......won’t happen til next year.

That date would makes sense. 60 days before the end of the quarter. Stores will have two months to get used to ordering and servicing product. By then NBC will really be ready to ship half pallet mods and rolling wings into warehouses for delivery on chain store trucks....

Was your “reliable source” your boss? If so, ask your boss if Mondelez is still in the business to turn a profit? If so, pretty sure they are lying!! This model is too expensive and cuts into the profitability of both retailers as well as Mondelez. Hard to inagine why or how that can be so difficult for people to grasp dsd is ending?
