Apple has a much better work environment than Qualcomm. I am so glad I made the decision to leave Q and join Apple last year. Q was totally toxic where politics ruled over everything, including technical facts.

If you make the cut, it's a no brainer decision in all respect. Good luck all. God bless.

Director at Q typically makes approx $300K +/- total comp ....Salary Bonus and RSU.

Apple Director is a bigger role with larger responsibility. Comparable is a Senior Manager at Apple with $400-500K range.

Apple is flatter...Don't compare the titles laterally. Sr Mgr at Aapl is lot more powerful role.

Open ended trips to china on a very short notice are very common. You don't come back until the issue is fixed. Daily conf calls with Asia start after 8pm PST. STATUS REPORTS are extremely important and as a DRI you need your sh-- together. Presenting to execs by junior level DRI is expected ...No one is looking out for you and negative feedback is almost instantaneous

If you are in your 20s , single, with no life outside of work then yes go for Apple. People i know are commuting 1hr 30 min plus each way from east bay because they cannot afford a place closer to Apple. Yes, pay is good but if calculate how much you earn for the hours and stress then the equation changes quickly. Grass is always greener in the Bay Area until you get there. I worked there and it was not sustainable in the long run.

@dlr, toxic culture in apple is well established. Glassdoor is a good resource. Apple pays well so people go there.

Ever wonder why apple is always hiring yet has small engineering teams??? People go there, get burnt out, have health problems and leave.

I suppose it would be a good place to go if you have just a few work years left and want to maximize income before retiring

@tmq, JT said this in yesterday’s all hands QCT meeting. These are not old wives tales.

As far as toxic culture is concerned, that’s subjective. It depends.

@bxr: “Apple Amazon and Tesla are legendary for their toxic culture” - please elaborate.

If you go to Apple it will be a one way street. Qualcomm will never hire you back. Apple Amazon and Tesla are legendary for their toxic culture.

Confirmed by the cleaning lady. Waiting to hear from landscape guy before declaring this a fact

No, JT mentioned this in today’s all hands that Apple is opening up some center in San Diego. Just watch the influx of QC Engineers to Apple now. There’s a reason why Apple chose to come to San Diego. Poach Poach

OP is correct.

Raleigh will be a Apple customer support center. Not a design center.
