Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Why not forming an union?

See what Boeing employees in South Carolina just did.

Two can play this game.

Unions can't prevent layoffs. The only difference is that a union shop is based on seniority so younger workers get cut before older workers - still arbitrary but in the reverse direction.

There was a long standing effort to form a union - see Lee Conrad but nobody really joined, most were afraid of management discovering their treachery and firing them. (Like, nothing else prevents that anyway). It died a horrible death so IBM will never EVER have a union. Welcome to the Ginny Vaudeville Show.

We've had the debates at my site and so many IBMers are just hellbent against unions.

(even though most have not seen a raise in over 6+yrs)

When you ask them why are they against joining/forming a union they have a lame answer like: "nobody's job should be protected" ...lol say what? Cant fix stoopid

A truly woeful lot (-;
