yeah but Q doesnt really care about quality of the work. As long as sh-- ships on time, thats all that matters. NXP guys gonna have to get your heads rewired. As long as product is on time and just barely meets needs, ship it. Done. Good enough. Sufficient quality. Fact that the underlying work is chaotic BS, doesnt matter. Generations of legacy sh-- in the design because "well it works, right ?". Folks highly reluctant to remove all the ancient stuff in case the designs fall over and miss schedule.
Working for a European design center of NXP (former FSL/Motorola) I can vouch for better work-life balance. Having worked with teams in Austin and India the work culture definitely seems better here without any compromises on quality of work output.
I hear the blackface parties @ NXP around the holidays are totally fun and create a team-building atmosphere.
can't wait to let NXP guys see how crappy QC designs are.
