At the Sugar Land Campus, my husband was layed off on 6/26/18. He was with Schlumberger for 43 years!!!!! Yes, I said 43 years! How about that? He was a designer with a significant wealth of knowledge and has seen it all. He saved SLB money and was very conscientious, always costing costs for the good of the company! Where did it get him? Instead of getting to retire and people congratulating him, retirement party, etc..he was escorted off the campus at 3:00 pm with 2 boxes of his stuff, even leaving his glasses behind! No Congrats on your retirement. Instead he heard...Oh my God, I can't believe it....I'm so sorry...We're all in shock about this, Ben! Imagine my husband's thoughts as he was led away. Everything was a blur, moving in slow motion. The only thing he could say to all his friends as he walked down the hall for the last time--They got me! They got me!!! ☹😢

How many did ICE get
Slb doesn’t give layoff packages to them .
Excellent way to save the Company big $$$$$$
SLB is # 1
I heard Houston next with pinks Slip's again good luck everyone
..
Your husband must have been really great guys, personally and professionally that survived several downturns. I hope during his work slb appreciated his work with rewards, financial rewards.
Hopefully he has been a wise spender and created 2nd income stream.
Layoff in every public company is given, let alone oil and gas sector these days.
Of course if slb had chance would have kept him.
Had this is something with is happening now, and we see more of these.
I got laid off a year ago after 15 years. Now I am over it and much happier.
Thank you all for the positive comments! He started at age 18, right out of high school, so he's 61, will be 62 in Feb 2019. He had will retire at that time! And yes, there's a nice 401K. It's just the plain shock of it all!! Yes, I know, he finally made it out of the bs! Thanks for the support!!!
Getting paraded out like a loser after 6 months or 43 years hurts the same way. It's degrading!
But doing 43 years with the same company...? Come on! Seriously institutionalized! Pretty much every single person with more than 25 years is politicized to death in this company. Enjoy your retirement. At least you gotten one.
43 years ? Quit your whining. What were you expecting? A parade? A medal perhaps? Keys to the executives testi---washing room?
When I got laid off, I had no choice but to dry my tears with $100 bills. He should do the same.
3 RIR per month, for everyone. For 100000 person, that is 3000000 RIR per month. That give 3.6M RIR per year. For 10 more year SLB will disappear. So the only way to to fix this problem is layoff. Dont outsmart Mr Pal
I am sorry to hear that. However. Why didn’t your husband take the package earlier than the day?
43yrs after Bac means he is 65 now. He should have contributed to such voluntary leave. Younger generation has already been eliminated for the sake of him.
43 years? What the f--- you expect? Not everyone can be mr rogers.
43 years, he should get at least 50k, plus pension. It still better than alot of person that have 15 years, and cobra offer.
This happened to me 3 years ago. It is a shock. Maybe severance pay from layoff is better than no severance and a retirement party?
I feel bad for you right now but believe me they did you both a favor. Same thing happened to me two years ago with 30 years in. Once all the dust settled he'll be more than happy to be out of micro-managed BS. Get his pension going and take your SS, along with (I hope) a large 401k...believe me...you will be very happy. SLB is NOT the company we both hired on to all those years ago. It will take a couple of months but he will realize ....he finally got his life back...and no more wasted time writing RIR about crap that never happened. Be happy.....you've finally made it out of the BS.
