Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

This is where we are

What does it say about a company if an employee who has been here for nearly two decades is praying to be laid off?

Amazon makes offers to their disengaged employees to quit. I’d recommend SF do that, but SF is no Amazon and would lose more than half their workforce probably!

I am feeling just like the OP now, after 15 years. Claims is so mismanaged and the workload is so high that there is nothing but extreme stress in the job all day every day. There is no job satisfaction and the execs either don’t care or can’t fix it now. Nothing is positive any more. The customers are, for the most part, as angry, ignorant and belligerent as ever. Management is never satisfied and always wants more, as if every ounce of what you have to give is not enough. It’s incredibly difficult to be an experienced claim handler when the company has flooded itself with very inexperienced reps that fumble and FUBAR claims so much too. So tired of being sh-- on. I wish they would close our office and give severance now. I have neither the time nor the strength to conduct a search for a new job while working in this hell. SF should just get to operating only in their utopias down in AZ, TX, and GA (as if, lol).

I quit in may 2018 and couldn't be happier. I was with sf for 24 yrs but it became so miserable from what was once a good company. I go to work now so much happier and feeling appreciated I kick myself for not leaving sooner. There is no management at sf, just a bunch of yes men.

Jump... I can guarantee there is life after ~>>%~}%^ farm.

leaving that crap company.

I hope it works out for everyone no matter what position they are in, it’s a tough environment everywhere. When you get to the end the money doesn’t matter anyway.

Take care of your health and family because in the the end that all that matters. I find it so funny that I’m the mad dash race for $$$ and retirement do you really feel any

different.

Could be going thru a divorce or in a miserable relationship that what would s--- I know a lot of people that make a lot of money for some reason almost half or more are unhappy or stress out.

Hang in there for four more years then roll on your own terms.

Good luck to everyone.

I have such remorse for not taking the miserable excuse of a severance package as now I can hardly stand another day at this company. I’m 51 years old and have 30 years in so not in any position to retire. I pray I get fired or laid off at this point.

I was already interviewing to leave the company when they offered voluntary buyout. I couldn't hit the opt out button fast enough. I've spent my entire career at SF and will be walking out with 23 years. I've already had 3 job offers and these companies are willing to wait until my QTD of 08/31. Once you stop drinking the kool aid you'll figure out the benefits at SF are terrible and other reputable companies blow them away. Plus leaving IL for my new job in TX is an automatic raise with no state income tax. Best decision ever and they are paying me to do it!

People work so hard to get where they are for what? So they can be used up, stepped all over, and dismissed like they never existed. This company that has lost their core values and forgets why exists in the first place. It will be in endless “transition” until it’s just gone because nobody who cares will be left. Lord Tipsord will cheer.

Everyone I work with live this company. During transition people are praying they have a job. If its so bad no one is stopping you from leaving. You owe it to yourself to be happy.

That was me not that long ago. One day after lunch and working again I thought it would be nice to just get walked out so I’d have time to find a new job. That’s exactly what happened.

Bean-counting metrics....insulting red/yellow/green huddle boards akin to Safety Town...flying SMs making $165k across 3 states to ride with a 25 yr proximity employee who knows their job upside down, inside out....to offer feedback & critique. Complete mindless insanity. Expense management??.....right.

They are dropping like flies in my office and mgmt is wondering why. Why are employees leaving. Such a puzzle for mgmt. They can't be that stupid. No flexibility. Points for things like your dad having a heart attack or a child with the flu. No vacation available. More work than anyone could possibly get done even with over time. No flexing time. No working from home. Closing down locations and cutting employees all over the country and we are expected to be nieve and believe our office wont be closed when we are sitting there half empty. When other companies are offering all these things.

Time clock. Ridiculous. Point system. Ridiculous. They way they have and are treating employees. Priceless. Priceless as in what the word of mouth will cost them.

I sometimes think that if/when wink wink. They close my office there will probably be cheering. The suffering will be over.

Executive "leadership" has done so much damage to State Farm's reputation. Very few employees have anything good to say about how they are treated. This lack of appreciation for the employees will hurt them. Policy holders are listening to the negative comments & taking their business elsewhere. It's sad to watch the executives destroy State Farm.

Yes, we’re a bunch of masochists and victims of something so unbelievable that anybody reading these posts from the outside probably thinks what is being posted here could never be the truth, because it is just seems too unbelievable. But it’s the sad sad truth.

Someone with a huge set will take this place to task.

You have a lot of company. Most of the people I know in my office ( which isn’t on the closure list yet but we know will be eventually) wish that they would just put us all out of our misery and shut the place down now so we can get severance and move on and find a good company to work for that actually appreciates their employees. It’s pretty clear that they are just trying to thin the herd and get rid of as many people as possible By creating impossible and intolerable work conditions so they don’t have to pay severance to as many people before they shut the office down.

Been here 3 decades and my prayer was answered, 7/31 QTD. Can't wait to move onto another company who might value my intellect zero accountability. This company is in dire need of a serious Executive house cleaning.
