Thread regarding Mondelez International Inc. layoffs

Severance info

Was digging theroug the HR website and found out that there is already a severance plan program for any fulltime hourly non-union employee whos job might be or become eliminated this was probably set up when they where consolidating the branches

It says anyone with over 5 years gets 2 weeks severance for every 1 year served up to 26 weeks

Under 5 years is up to 5 weeks

It doesn't talk about anything about salaried employees but at most companies this is a standard 1-2 weeks severance for every 1 year served

Reposted from @U2B2KEO-1pey for important info.

Funny that people are discussing how much of their “severance” may be withheld. The real issue is the company has a right to change policy at anytime. They took back a weeks vacation and two PTO days from every FT person to save money! Don’t spend your money before you get it!

"The taxes I paid on all my income last year I think was around 25% to the IRS"

I was way off with the number I downloaded my taxes from last year and it was only 11-12% to the IRS. The 25% was including all that other stuff like social security, Medicare, and state stuff

I'm only bonused 1/4ly at 5% so it might be a little easier to see the difference when I file my taxes because I don't go over the 2nd tax bracket ever

I do see it when I get my bonus check, But I also see it come back in my refund because they over withheld my taxes.

Next year or go back and look at your taxes and you will see an over payment that's why I always get a refund of $2000 or more (I dont get any other deductions other then myself I don't own property or have a mortgage, college loans)

The taxes I paid on all my income last year I think was around 25% to the IRS

Also the 45% you speak of your including things like social security, Medicare, unemployment, and state taxs (which i can not speak of that varys state to state)

Income is income it doesn't matter how you receive it is all taxed the same when you file your taxes what you are seeing in the bonus paycheck is not what you paid in taxes but what is being withheld

If you think you paying taxes on your paycheck you are wrong that's just withholding everyone pays there taxes yearly

When you file your taxes is they a special box for your bonused income?

If it called a bonus u get taxed at 45% wait and see if u don’t believe it

Here is an article about it there are more out there but this one breaks down the tax info the simplest that 40-45% is just not true

Yes they withhold 40% not the typical 25% of your normal pay but when you do your taxes at the end of the year you should get the rest back in your refund.

All income is treated the same when you do your taxes. There is no special spot on your tax form for regular income and bonus income.

All income taxes are paid yearly not out of your weekly paycheck what you are seeing in your paycheck is them withholding your estimated taxes for the year. Bonuses get withhold on a higher scale because of how much you are receiving at once so it changes the estimated withholding

Your taxed at 45% on bonus comes right off the top when they pay u not an end of the yr tax hit

There is a difference between the bonus having a different tax rate and it having a different withholding rate. You are seeing a different withholding rate, but not necessarily a different tax rate. The actual tax rate will be determined when you figure your annual taxes

Union jobs might be different but your entitled to nothing as severance most company offer something but I’ve seen many that don’t. I would think nabisco would offer something but don’t think it’s a gravy train. Also anytime companies over you pay classified as a bonus u get taxed at 45% on it which is rediculous

Yep, it’s coming! “We’re too big” needs to step into reality! We are far from too big! What Dirk may be committed to today be may not be committed to tomorrow and ultimately it won’t be Dirk’s decision! Funny though, for being committed to dsd he sure is making a lot of moves to prepare Mondelez for a warehouse model! If you open your eyes you cannot miss!! CAO, consolidation of branches, reps keeping company cars for longer than ever before. Forget what your boss says, they are being told what to say. Look around and make an educated guess!!

was with the company when it was owned by Phillip Morris then Kraft and now mondelez . All the new incoming interns are only being offered 4-6 month contracts vs the 2 year contracts they usually give out . You can sense there's something up walking about the Irvine head quarters . everyone is on edge and the management knows the day is coming they'll no longer be needed. From my understanding the only ones that will be spared are the category managers and account managers the rest will be released . They are keeping everything silenced in fear the merchs will start quitting and they're not turning back once that starts happening . All the field employees are being kept in the dark . The whole operations team are enforcing the silence rule . Merch are being told not to speak of the walmart self ordering . Ralphs alberstons stater and other big chains are following suit and will be self ordering soon. Good luck to all the field employees.
