Thread regarding Southwestern Energy Co. layoffs

To the people left at the sinking ship....

Get out while you can! You know you aren’t doing any work and wrong way is leading the company to soon become a sinking ship!

I know there’s some sarcasm here and I come to this site on occasion to see the state of affairs of a company I used to work at.

If there is some seriousness in the — let’s roll up our sleeves and work hard comments — help me .. what are you working on or towards? Basically what’s the company goal and strategy ? As a locked in shareholder for another year and a half ... is there a future ? I would really like to know

All those that got let go were dead weight for sure! They were weighing us down, keeping our production and stock price low. Production will definitely go way up now that we have the best, most innovative employees left!

I agree. Don’t quit and work hard. Those at SWN should be proud to be there, except I think most of Land could probably be turned loose. If an impact is not being made, then it would be prudent for additional cuts.

Hey @U7pAOux-npt. You were let go, weren't you? Be well. Move on with life. Wish your friends who were not let go and still with SWN the best. Don't be so angry. Take your severance money and run. You're talented I'm sure so find another job.

Anybody who thinks SWN is on the right path is not “skilled”, nor somebody I would hire at my company. Executive management that has been around the last few years has accomplished absolutely nothing. The new execs have run companies into the ground. Senior management is severely overstaffed, as is middle management. Land is overstaffed. Engineering is overstaffed. Geology got cut significantly, but is still overstaffed. I don’t even need to mention BIS, HR and HSE. Over half the building is sitting empty, while SWN continues to pay for unoccupied floors. Economically drillable locations are dwindling at a low ROR. Debt is astronomical. Moral is in the crapper. If the company is to be saved, more cuts need to be made. But hey- big bonuses and pay raises are right around the corner!

Stay! You're lucky to have been selected to stay. It speaks a lot for your character and work ethics. Trust me, most of the laid off folks were the dead weights. They had to go if we're to save this company. I never feared being laid off. I do my job very well. Even if I was let go, I felt confident enough to land a good job elsewhere. I have skills. For those of us who are still here, all I can say is roll up your sleeves and get to work. It will pay off. SWN is on the way back up! Better days, pay raises, and bigger bonuses ahead!
