Yup - mass layoff occurred last Friday Oct 5 2018 in San Diego TC (maybe TV too, I don't know about that). Don't know if it's jus MMS or all BD.
R&D and especially SQE got hit the hardest, some higher-ranking managers got it too. Ranjeet sent out an announcement about the layoffs. Tech Comms moving from Mex to India.
Anyone know the total?
I hear over in quality they are still hiring, though, and that nobody was let go over there.
Any new news on the annual culling?
There is workforce available internally to get work done. Now, just waiting for the ax to fall. It's a shame BD is choosing to outsource the work with the assumption it would be cheaper to get it done by a firm that will be charging them a lot more than they are quoting right now. Sadly, the folks making the decision to outsource are clueless. They will be disappointed shortly. Then, they will decide to do it in house. But, by then everyone has been fired/moved on.
BD leaders are purely profit-focused. Six months out of the year staring about now, they are creating fear and anxiety company wide. Their focus is to take out tons of cost and turbo-charge productivity to drive shareholder return. This will backfire in the long run. Motivating with fear will only goose the results in the short term, but lead to attrition and brain drain. BD leaders intentions are to drive up profits, make a killing, and get out. Employees are not feeling engaged, especially when all the work is getting outsourced. Employees don't feel loyal or proud to work here any more.
The writing's on the wall. almost all projects are out sourced, and not many projects in house. I heard this layoff in September is going to hit MMS R&D hard, and it 's going to be big. Get your resume cleaned up!!!
So how many are impacted this time around? I heard ~100 in TS alone
What’s happening in the winnersh location?
There appear to be a lot of HR - management meetings lately.
August/September time frame, as usual?
You may be right. Did you mean the unemployment office? Here are the signs a big layoff is eminent: All job requisitions are frozen or have disappeared. Projects are getting outsourced. There are new design centers targeted to grow for tax saving purposes. The company has initiated forced rankings (something that has been tried and failed miserably at other companies). Morale is at an all time low. People are fleeing if they get a job with other companies. There is no effort to retain them. Managers are looking grim and solemn lately.
What are your thoughts?
When will layoffs start?
It’s going to be massive.
