Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

ABB Celebrities Buying GE IS With NYSE Closing Bell.

Amazing to see a part of GE older than the creation of the company itself being celebrated by its new owner (ABB) after being disregarded and underinvested in for years by GE leadership who placed their bets on the latest fashion or who needed an extra corporate jet to follow them around the world.

How many others are scratching their heads at how far GE has fallen that the unloved parts of GE which were taken for granted and never properly invested in are viewed as highly valuable by another company?

Actually, Samsung has started making appliances in the US, after GE long since NAFTA'd it's manufacturing to Mexico (then sold its entire appliances business to China after giving up). Samsung is opening a new facility in Simpsonville, SC, with 500 or so jobs coming. Maybe some of the GE Power people who laid off can find a job just down the road there.

Sad. That's what I am. Sad. Just say something to me. Anything. Make me feel like I exist. My kids don't visit anymore and barely talk to me even at Christmas. My wife left me a few years ago. I've got nothing left. It's so quiet.

I keep asking this question: Why for example, Samsung and LG can make major appliances and sell across the ocean at much higher prices and still gain market shares and make good profits, while GE had to get out of its Appliance business. May be because we changed from ""We Bring Good Things to Life" to "Imagination at Work" by cumulative mismanagement to fewer products, less profit, and more layoffs. Sad.
