Thread regarding SeaWorld Entertainment Inc. layoffs

The truth about Sea World layoffs 2018.

This company (Sea World Entertainment) has soiled itself all while pointing the finger at everyone else. Playing the victim to PETA and other activist organizations all while refusing to stand up for itself. Sea world has left the dirty job of cleaning up its wrecked reputation to its bottom rung hourly employees. Expecting them to jump and bend over backwards to achieve high "guest courtesy scores" while giving it's employees none of the tools to do so. Sea world has cheaped out on us like a friend who dines and dashes, leaving you caught holding the bill. This "company" consistently avoids taking responsibility for its actions and gaslights it's team, telling them they care while cutting every good thing their employees used to have access to, like opportunity for advancement in the company. The "Sea of opportunity" is barely even a puddle anymore. Anyone who is lucky enough to have climbed the corporate ladder and earned a well paying position through loyalty, hard work and dedication has now been let go.

SEA WORLD IS NOT BEING HONEST about its intent to have the park be run by inexpensive, inexperienced people who will only ever have part time or seasonal positons. Sea world doesn't care about the welfare of its employees and doesn't want to offer health insurance or benefits to them. That is the bottom line.

Sea world only cares about its wealthy "investors". This company doesn't realize that it's employees are the actual investors: Investing time, energy and SO MUCH HEART into this place. Sea world lays off its real investors (the employees) to impress the investors with deep pockets. The reality is that you aren't impressing anyone Sea World.

Expect more layoffs and cuts. They are nowhere near their goal of $50 million saved.

There were more lay offs last week (Nov. 10) I worked there for 27 years and was “let’ go” three years ago. They even were offering $2000. Extra in the severence package for a non-disclosure agreement. I wouldn’t sign it. For my silence of their busness practices said I could never sue or talk about Sea World. Well I know for a fact there is a high occurence of cancers at Busch/Tampa. The soul is so polluted they would be sued if

it was known they transported any soil off the property! It was once an airport and there is jet fuel that permeated the soil so bad even the animals are getting cancer! Long term employees are getting cancer and they do not want to be hel accountable! So I wouldn’t sign and I am waiting for a class action suit but too many are signing the non-disclosure.

Seaworld has really gone ghetto, i been here many years and u walk in some of the offices and the carpets are horrible, the paint is coming off the walls , the quality is not here anymore, anyone who gets layed off , they will be doing them a favor , dont remember the last time there was a raise, they need to change there name because its not Seaworld anymore, that is long gone, when anheuser busch owned it , that was seaworld, now its a bunch of hungry bunch of people only caring about their pockets , and as long as you keep putting your employees last, your company will not profit, you get what you give

I heard on the news that it has been making a profit for some time now and they suddenly decided it is time to dump people.

The best thing that could happen is for Universal's board to buy a majority of SRA stock and effectively take over the parks. the BG parks would be better off owned & operated by Herschel Entertainment or Six Flags or some other regional park operator. Time to face reality John Reilly. I worked at the parks for 20+ yrs and knew Reilly way back when...he is not a world-class CEO but an Ops guy who needs to face facts that the parks are now regional / local amusement parks.

"Anyone who is lucky enough to have climbed the corporate ladder and earned a well paying position through loyalty, hard work and dedication has now been let go." This is the unfortunate truth.

Numerous leadership currently in role in San Diego who have ZERO business being a manager, pardon me, "leader", that are somehow able to get away with not doing a damn thing and praised for the work done by their subordinates.

I feel bad for the people who were laid off, but once they get in to a company that actually values their opinions, ideas, and hard work.. they'll truly see how terrible this place was to work for. I hope this plan to leave them high and dry is actually followed through with. The grass is actually alive on the other side.

I couldn't agree more. Those of us left after the slaughter of the past couple years are so low in morale, and so done being loyal to a company that isn't loyal to us. There is a quiet rebellion going on. Some plans to leave the place high and dry for its last financial quarter by walking out at once.

They are operating on such a smal crew that they wouldn't be able to funcion.
