Thread regarding Advance Auto Parts Inc. layoffs

Skeleton Crews and Lousy Inventory, This Company has no idea about Customer Service

I will no longer shop or call Advance. The stores have few employees working on any given day, they cant answer the phone or take care of ringing up a simple quart of oil much less any idea what a car or a part is or does. This is simply my rant as to how much this company has gone downhill while the competition always answers their phones and has someone at the register when you want to grab something quick and get out. Good Bye Advance you are not the company you used to be.

O'Reilly's opened several new stores in my area a couple years ago and has had quite the impact with better customer service and parts availability. They will even special order parts with out a deposit and have the part later in the day or the next morning, Advance can't or won't do that. I have pretty much forgotten Advance even exists anymore, the competition does a better job with less hassle.

I will say one thing though....the Carquest located in the city not far from me is still staffed with enough people who know what they are doing. I still support them a good bit with my business.

I used to spend a lot of money at Advance Auto. The last few years things have gone downhill. All the long time employees who were knowledgeable are gone. Parts availability is not what it used to be and now a visit there means waiting in line with a half dozen other people while one person is working the counter and struggling to find what the customer wants.

AutoZone and O'Reilly's are really trying to put the squeeze on the Advance stores in my area. A new AutoZone was just built right next to my hometown Advance which has been all by itself without competition for at least a decade. A new O'Reilly's just opened in my county last year and a new one is under construction on the other side of the county currently. Both AutoZone and O'Reilly's have better selection, availability, and there are always at least three and usually four people available to help customers and get them checked out.

I feel bad for the long-timers who know their stuff and are being put in a bad situation. Maybe it's time for you to move on before things get even worse.
