Employee Engagement Survey Coming 9/5

Email going out about the newest employee survey starting on 9/5. Even those in IT who are being laid off due to the outsourcing to IBM are getting the email. Should be interesting!

Here is my engagement. Company is run by the four stooges. Larry, Moe, Curly and Shemp. No idea about leadership or customer service. No confidence vote for the Board either. They have let Traveling Tony fly of to European to many times in the corp jet while the company is going done the tubes. Farris was the big bl&$ ha:d I ever had the displeasure of meeting. Who would hire the narcissistic jokes.

When I worked for IT I know that our group was honest and didn't whitewash anything and look where that got us. Out on the street to bigger and better things.

The best thing you can do to shove it to them is to NOT complete the survey. They don't care what you write about the company. They only care that you're "engaged" so they can turn around and point to a high numbers to prove how much they listen to the people.

Besides, tell me one meaningful change that has been made as a result of these surveys?

I’ll relay what my manager told my group two years back before I bailed. It’s technically anonymous because they do not have a name to put to a particular survey. However, your boss’s boss can see which surveys and comments came from which manager’s team. That narrows the field, and since people tend to use the same phrasing in speech or emails they’ve sent taking issue with the same things they mentioned in their survey comments, they’ve conveniently painted their own bullseye.

He also told us that if our responses as a team averaged out below a certain percentage deemed negative an HR rep would be sent to our location for 16 hrs of “training” which basically consisted of us being told we were lucky to still have a job.

Several of us independently verified that with other teams in our BU. Our manager wasn’t doing it to cover his rear, he was a good guy, everyone always gave him good marks on those questions but the the ones dealing just with WIN had marks in the basement. After that everyone just lied to save ourselves two days of “training” which was exactly what they wanted.

Some manager really don't want to hear the truth. Just take this thread for example they deleted several comments out of here... Don't want to hear the drivel from the poors? TT?

I will be just as honest, as I am every year. And every person should have pride and be honest. Just be professional about it. Especially if you’re a hard working person. Don’t let this company scare you into not using your voice. And I’m NOT afraid of losing my job at all. All the threats I’ve gotten in my time here, these people don’t scare me because you can’t be afraid of people who don’t know what they’re doing and most employees don’t respect. I just don’t think it’s ok for people on this site, ESPECIALLY the HR and management trolls that are on here, to be telling others what they have and haven’t heard. The survey is nothing more than a facade to add to the perception that leadership cares. If it was real then why is it that every single person I talk to is honest, doesn’t give high marks then miraculously every year leadership says the results were great. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve sat through a meeting and have been told by a new leader that they are going to address every major concern all the people in the room, and Every other room that they’ve sat in on their tour, has brought to the table. Then we never hear from them again and nothing they committed to gets fixed.

To the person that responded:

“No you haven't. And if they have they should report their manager to HR.”

YOU do not know what you’re talking about. I personally had that happen to me. A previous director called our entire team in to an emergency meeting after the results of the survey came out. He had gotten bad reviews from our team and he had gotten in trouble by our VP. The bad reviews were warranted since he hadn’t been showing up for work for more than 4 hours a day. In the meeting he had a print out of the responses and he went around to every person and demanded they admit if they said anything bad about him. 1 person on our team did go to HR. That person was put on plan and let go 3 months later stating “performance” as the reason. I know many people that say they lie on that survey because 1. They’re too afraid to be honest because if they know you haven’t taken it and your boss calls you out by name as a person that hasn’t taken it, then how on earth is it anonymous? 2. Their boss is telling them to say “nothing but positive things or they’ll know you didn’t”. I have heard with my own ears managers threaten people with their jobs if they say anything bad. It’s usually the directors that aren’t working more than 1/2 a day every day that are doing the threatening.

I stopped taking the survey because nothing ever changed. My boss would send me an email telling me I hadnt done the survey. So how did she know if its truly anonymous? I would do mine from home since they can see what I do on my computer. They dont want the truth. They want the sh-- that all the a-- kissers post on stream. Our director tells his bosses our whole group is just disgruntled. No, our dept is run by an incompetent a-- who has no clue what we do. Hope with the recent mgmnt changes he gets the axe.

This survey is a joke. There is no REAL feedback that will make a difference in day to day operations. EarthLink had it right using the Dennison survey, it was much more in-depth and held each EVP accountable for their BU. We also lost the ability to provide 360 reviews. If my manager, director, VP, etc s--- there is no accountability. I know in the past staff employees had bad write ups on their 360 for their managers and directors. Those people in a leadership role were put on a PIP and that is the way it should be. 90 days later those troubled leader were gone.

I REALLY HOPE YOU ALL REFERENCE THIS PAGE IN YOUR SURVEY

I was brutally honest last year and I will be again this year. I have noticed field techs are the most honest in stream. I sit behind a desk. Its a horrible place to be there too. The ones from Little Rock are always the ones that say everything is great on stream. "Eartlinkers" are extremely arrogant. We never needed them in the first place. I'm not lying on the survey. They say anonymous, sure it is

It'll happen this year just like every other year. The field guys will tell it how it really is, while the call center, desk jockeys give 10+ thumbs up, and cancel out all the workers having to deal with management's bad decisions to make the stockholders like us. 12+ hrs days, 7 days a week, all while they go home to their families and go on vacations, while everyone else suffers.

I've been brutally honest for 3 years now. I like my team, but upper management has no clue what they are doing.

I would not recommend t

Windstream as a place to work, unless I totally hated you.

I would not recommend our product to anyone I want to have a friendship with either. Too many tickets this week where AT&T has called us to advise trunk groups are out of service. Pulled into a site, fire alarm is going off, HVAC is in auro-shutdown, high temp alarms and the NOC knows nothing about it. WORLD CLASS NETWORK.

I would think the recent wave of operations managers calling it quits would be a clue about where the survey is headed. That and the endless overtime, the lack of NT and BST the farming out of support centers to third world call centers, all while we increase executive compensation as the stock sits at a buck and change a share. Interesting is one word for it.
