Got a quick question. Can you ask to be laid off at Cisco? Is this something that’s possible? Anyone with this experience? Do you ask for a package?

I was laid off in September 2016. The package then (provided you signed that silly a-- agreement) was 3 months + 1 week for years 10 - 19 and + 2 weeks for years 20 and above. I believe I got 10 months of Cobra (actually a lump sum payment grossed up to enable you to buy Cisco's plan or whover else's plan you chose to get). The first two months you could stay at Cisco and attempt to find a job within Cisco, which was futile since I believe the layoff was obviously based on age. Everyone I know that got laid off was over the age of 50. It's my understanding that subsequent layoffs were heavily biased toward the people 50+ years of age.

Depends on your manager, but yes.
Package will depend on where you are. Meager in the US, relatively good in Europe (if you've been there a while).

I'm based out of Ireland and in talks with Management to get an offer as there is no interesting work left here. So far, I can get 6 month salary as package. I'm in discussion to get it increased by another 2 months. Another team member got 5 month package.
Manager 's decision is final. My friend asked for LR and he got 7 month. He was in grade 12.

10 months of salary is a lie. You typically get ~ 3 months (1 month sitting on your butt looking for a job internally, which is hopeless, and then 2 months severance), and 1 week for every year beyond 10.
I attempted to get on LR list by basically not doing work for a year, however I ended up getting promoted instead. Not what I expected, but I'm not complaining either.
It's possible. You can get upto 10 months of salary . Your LM can fix it based on your conversation. This is not based on performance.
