Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Promotion means nothing!

Just a warning to everybody, a friend from work who was promoted less than a year ago was let go as part of this round. He was certain he was safe, so this came as a huge shock to him. It caught him completely unprepared, to say the least.

My point is, if you think you are safe for whatever reason, think again. Don't let it catch you by surprise.

A person I've worked with for years was let go two weeks ago. She kept telling to stop being so paranoid when I would tell her to come up with a plan just in case. She was with Xerox for 31 years. This is the only job she's had since college. She was in complete shock. Her job was essential to the group she worked for but that didn't count. NO ONE is safe.

The same thing happened to me. Two levels above me, nonstop praise. I Received a promotion, continued performing well and within 10 months gone. As soon as my seniors jobs were being looked at, they decided my overachievements weren’t worth keeping. It was a total shock.

It’s the recipe for a failing company. I am so glad I’m not at Xerox anymore.
