Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Previous CFO

Stacy Smith left the company as of January 1. Typically when an executive (former cfo ) leaves we hear later where they went and what they are doing. Stacy is relatively young, still of working age. Does anyone know what Stacy is doing now? Is he working somewhere or truly retired? I never heard anything after Stacy left as where he might go or what he truly wants to do now.

Here's Stacy's bio @ Autodesk. Talks all about what he did at Intel.

I have heard nothing but don't think his plan was to retire according to what he said on the subject:

Intel described his exit as a retirement, but in a note to Intel employees posted internally, Smith wrote that "now is the time to start the next chapter in my professional journey." He gave no clue as to where that will take him.

Well, upon further Google results.... I found where he went. Sounds uninteresting, and not at ALL what I would have expected if his "retirement" had been his idea (according to Bloomberg):

Mr. Stacy J. Smith has been Non-Executive Chairman of Autodesk, Inc. since June 12, 2018.

I never heard of them although you'all might have. Only thing I can say... their stock is MUCH higher than INTC!!!

Yes, @cgb, Intel managers are so fake they copy talking points off each other and then repeat this phony verbiage to their modules. Little did they know all the engineers had previously heard these talking points so no need to listen. Just blah, blah, blah b---s---. Bunch of talking parrots. In TMG, before ICF came to be, the managerial word was 'fungibility'. Every one of them had to have it in their toolbox. All phonies. Just repeat, repeat, repeat with no original ideas.

It was hilarious watching every exec and subexec (including Sr PEs and Fellows) in my group parrot "virtuous cycle" as soon as BK uttered it in 2016. BK himself never repeated it after 6 months. What a shameless sheep flock. Personally to me, it was an obvious mumbo jumbo that served to keep these worthless execs in their jobs for another day.

@qnq The Corporate Strategy has already been outsourced to Bain for years. Where do you think the fancy Virtuous Cycle Tornado diagram came from?

So, I'm unsure how more external consultants can help at this point. I agree company is bloated to an extreme measure with a lot of nonsense/unproductive divisions too many VPs for the sake of providing promotions and upward path to the top of the pyramid. When cutbacks are done, who is affected? It's the middle grade levels that are impacted, and few at the bottom and very few at the top.

@mcp, Agree with your assessment, but would also like to add break company up and spinoff non-functional businesses that are non-starters, money losers. We don't want retreads at the helm.

No, and I couldn't care less. Hopefully, he is not rehired and just enjoys his retirement.
