Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

How bad will the results be?

So, how bad do you think second quarter results are going to be? And how soon after the announcement will we see more layoffs at Mattel, since that seems like the only thing they know how to do lately to try and placate shareholders?

Imagine if they actually tried to improve profits instead of cutting costs for once... But no, that's too complicated. For as long as those on top are not affected, layoffs will remain the go to solution for everything.

Hasbro reported -7% but their stock is surging. Boosted MAT as well. What now?

This was one stupid post. It is not easy to grow profit when no one wants to buy your toys - and that it because the designers at Mattel do not know to make toys for this generation. The only thing they know is girls dolls (and die cast cars). When you cannot grow profit, layoffs are your only option.

There will be more layoffs before earnings and after. Mattel is in a downward spiral that is impossible to crawl out of. Only question is can they find a buyer before bankruptcy needs to be filed. Earnings will probably be a complete disaster just like last quarter.
