Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

SPVSS sell - outstanding engineer Jerusalem

Motivation.

Engineer (non manager)

Getting RSU''s every two years, got notification last week , most of the non vested RSU''s are lost in the transition to primeera.

This is a big portion of his year's pay.

I know manager read this.

This action kills the motivation of the motivated .

Everything is negotiable. Don't simply take the stock exit package. negotiate.

1) You cannot choose to stay with Cisco...bye

2) You should ask if the new company will compensate you. You wont be the only one and if you all complain then maybe they will.

if RSUs is what keeps you motivated, you should maybe find a different work place.

there is 0 logic for cisco to give you the unvested stocks, RSUs are a tool to keep you from quitting, this is why they are vested in parts, CISCO does not have any desire of keeping you anymore, and the new company does not have shares to hand out, and paying you for the entire potential RSUs makes not sense either (what keeps you from quitting the next day?)

so really, get over it.

Yes - you should fully understand non vested shares are worthless. If you don’t understand that then you probably didn’t read the RSU documents. I left Cisco having $120K in unvested shares. If you truly are so fixated on money to the detriment of enjoying the job - I think you need to find a job you enjoy both from an intellectual challenge and a socially rewarding angle.

Get over it!

Guess you better stay with Cisco then., if the money outweighs decent management and a better culture.
