News: Accreditor WASC defers accreditation for DCEH's Argosy University. Says it finds inappropriate personnel & financial conflicts of interest.

Has anyone heard of any student taking classes at AU receiving notification of WASC accreditation warning? Shouldn’t they have a chance to transfer to another college?
Well that was interesting - thanks for posting the link - so Argosy has till December 2018 now to provide required info - if I read this correctly.

The March 2018 Argosy WASC visit went well. However, one area questioned was the financial strength of the schools and WASC asked if DCEH planned to close any of the schools. Richardson reportedly told them that no closures would occur (liar!). With the June 30/July 2 events, Baum had to go back before the WASC committee with the changes. This letter is in reference to that meeting. Keep in mind that, to date, no accreditation agency (WASC, CACREP, ACBSP, Dept of Ed, etc.) has approved the teachout plans or the way the campuses are closing. AU campuses shown on the 7/2 letter will be essentially closed by 2018 year.end. DCEH has released student services directors and advisors, admissions, some financial advisers at the campus levels. Most are receiving the news via mass conference call and on these calls, a roll call is being done which seems to violate a lot of HR rules. It is a mess and all are caught in the crosshairs. Opinion is many students are being forced to sign papers without complete info and under duress because there is conflicting info being distributed on a daily basis. All students are being encouraged to go online. Who knows how long AU Online will be around.
Oh yeah stick the narrative. EVERYTHING IS CRUMBLING THE HUMANITY OH GOD DONT LET FACTS GET IN THE WAY EVERYTHING IS BAD.
Dear D--k Head,
The purple koolaid would be best for you.
It's the one with the cyanide.
A majority of administrators and lots of instructors at Ai have degrees from AU. It’s not the only source of Ai problems but definitely a contributor.
I hope the DCEH closes. That will allow me reasonable time to find a new job. #fingerscrossed
I'm sensing some Argosy kool-aid drinkers on this thread. I know your brand hasn't had as much bad press as the Ai brand but please understand you aren't to far removed from all the DCEH problems.
WASC specifically commends Argosy for the direction and changes they are making. Not sure why this is being interpreted as anything but part of the process moving from for-profit to non-profit.
"Defer" is not the worst level of action WASC has BUT..... if you read it the whole letter there are several areas they identify that middle states has also identified and what HLC identified.
So if you look at the big picture with DCEH as the parent..... It doesn't look good all around that several accrediting organizations all pick out the same issues with DCEH.
DCEH should not be allowed to maintain any accreditation.
I read the letter. WASC is not asking for a couple of little changes.
I count 14 Argosy campuses no longer taking new students. Are there others that will close?

No it isn't. Read the actual letter.

It's more of a, "you're on the right path, tweak these couple things." Than a threat to lose accreditation.
DCF and DCEH too stupid to understand accreditation or part of the master plan?
“Oh gee whiz, the schools lost accreditation guess we have to close them. He he he”
According to The Chairman of the Board, “And now, the end is near
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain” DCEH schools are closing sooner versus later.
The Richardson family trust absolutely put up 10% of the money for the sale; it was actually in the disclosure to Middle States, SACS, etc. The sale price went from 100 million down to 60 million.
WASC has had questions about this since long before the recent implosion. There are articles online quoting WASC from back in March re: conflicts of interest and Richardson. Supposedly Richardson's family helped with 10% of the purchase.
