Official facebook layoff Report 2018

Now that Facebook has joined the elite club of most wealth destroyed in one day. Margin are going to be in low 30 vs 45% and revenue and growth slowing. We all know what that means for the little guy.

Facebook layoffs.

Starting this thread to capture the layoffs as they will be sneaky ( given the culture there ) and layoff 10-20 small batches every week so no one notices it.

If you hear rumors or suddenly don't see colleagues turn up for work and mangers tells you they found a job . You know what up.

Facebook laid off around 6% of the workforce and no one knows... omg FB management is awesome.

How they did it.. for a WARN notice the threshold is 500 people

So they laid off 400ish for the past 4 months

Most people on H1B at FB are contractors as FB dosent want them on their payroll so they can show to US govt that they hire mostly US citizens, its sneaky , well we should not be suprised.

I will agree around 40% of facebook employees are contractors , so the layoffs are not reported as they are technically not FB employees.

I have heard in the finance team 7 FT people have been asked to leave , so technically 7 layoffs , thier last date is Jan 15. FB dosent usually ambush layoffs , they ask you to leave so you have 30 days before you fired

Save on that severance package ..

Instagram team contractors no rehire,

We been told that all contractors who's assignment ends dec to feb will not be hired back or given FT positions.

So around 90-100 layoffs in the next 2 months.

To the good person who is posting detailed HC cuts. As a former HR of facebook , I would advise you to use a VPN as I know of instances when HR at Facebook has used the IT to track the IP posts and identify current employees and fire them for breach of NDA

It is a messed up culture they were able to hide until now that all the sh-- they do is comming out .

Hire a or agency to go after people who talk bad about them... wow !!!

looks like the rumors are correct... We all know what happens when outsourcing people from India come.

For full time it's going to be a PIP , performance improvement plan, unlike other places FB has a 6 month performance cycle so we are told to start documenting "poor performer" .. ya

Basically pip gives FB excuse not to give severance . Ya best company to work for !!! And they make you sign a NDA when they fire you so you can't talk sh-- about them . Else they will not agree to help you in your background check min, or have they attorneys send you a nasty letter.

Update on Layoffs

Budgets are being discussed and set for next year

We been told to start cutting out contractors , so no FT layoffs this year. Whew !!!

Those poor temp/contractors will be lay off by december, so if you one of those temp people thinking you going to get the FT offer if you hang in a little more.. bad news. , they lying to you

Salary raise except for the engineers will be ard 2-3%

Stock bonus..lol... well we all can read charts !!!!

For the life of me I can not figure out what so many people do at a company like Facebook. Facebook's website has to be some of the lamest programming around, and I can only imagine that 90% of the employees are involved with data mining and selling user information.
