I recently returned from being on short-term disability. I work in claims. Cigna was extremely difficult to work with. My return to work date changed a few times and it was very difficult to get my claim extended. Has anyone else experienced this?

What can we expect? They are probably handling claims just like we do... Reactivly so, if you (the customer) does not call and push for things to happen NOTHING will happen.
Cigna has been HORRIBLE for years. They called me hours after my major surgery because they couldn’t reach my doctor (maybe because he was doing surgeries???) and wanted me to get ahold of him to have him confirm that I had had surgery. They claimed his office hadn’t faxed in paperwork at different points (they had), they didn’t return my calls, claimed I hadn’t called (I had and had documented dates/times/etc), and messed up the hours I was on FMLA repeatedly.
I strongly recommend you document every conversation, voicemails, dates, times, etc. When my case manager didn’t return calls, I left a voicemail for his boss who never returned my call, and then I called HR to file a complaint. They were magically available when HR called them with me.
There’s plenty of information out there about people having issues with Cigna - paperwork supposedly never being received, etc. If Ihave to deal with them again, I’ll insist on email communications and them verifying when documentation is received so they can’t later claim otherwise.
Went in to the doctor this week and OSF Is now charging a 16.00 fee to fill out paperwork.
Cign is horrible! I have MS and they want me to submit my paper work every 6 months to prove that i Still have it so i am covered IF I have a relapse, my DR has mentioned to them that MS is not curable so submitted the paperwork is a waste of time but they INSIST i submit it thank goodness my DR is understandable with the paperwork, BUT im not getting any better!
They are the worst
I'm still hospitalized and they're asking for all the paperwork by certain dates, then do not even review it when it is submitted timely, making me stress about it and feeling like they aren't on top of their business reporting my continued leave to the company. It's a horrible process that makes dealing with whatever illness or crisis situation even worse. The last thing I need is Cigna saying I can go back to work when I'm still recovering, so I pray it does not go there.
I was out on short term disability last year and they made me jump through hoops to get the extensions I needed. You have to make sure that your doctor is on top of things or Cigna will be quick to deny the extension.
