Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

I’ve had some toxic jobs. Lesson learned:

Saw this on the web, and it is very true and very applicable to our current situation at the Farm.

“When things go bad, good people leave, eventually followed by people who thought they could change things but got buried because too many good people left. Those left are bad people or hostages.

The good people are your canary.”

True. Those who have talent go elsewhere. All that is left are the rats clinging on like dingleberrires on your hiney.

Yes, definitely hostages. They are using you up, but make no mistake, they will discard you and your peers when it suits them.

You are NOT bad people. Definitely hostages.

Well okay I am a hostage right now and so are most of the people in my office. Our office is on the close list and most of us still there are in claims and are tenured employees who are waiting it out hoping for a severance offer. Actually by the end of Oct. that's all that will be left are claims people.

Now the other depts. have gotten severance so of course we are hoping for that too, not sure why we are hoping for that, they treat us like crap in claims, and they keep finding more ways to trip us up, probably collecting evidence so they don't have to pay us severance.

But until we hear one way or another most of us are digging our heels in and putting up with crap in hopes of that severance offer. Does that make us bad people or hostages?
