Thread regarding Sikorsky Aircraft layoffs

Local 1150 does everything they can to prevent layoffs!

Local 1150 works tirelessly to avoid losing even a single member. We are in the middle of tough times with A/C sales on a sharp decline. LM and Sikorsky have the sole right to employ or not employ as many people as they need. Unions don’t have a contractual right to intervene in these matters and this is the same contract we all unanimously ratified. Local 1150 is not the bad guys here it’s a company that is poorly run and poorly managed. They have failed us in sales and getting us the parts we need to do our jobs. We seem to forget the years when we produced over 375 A/C and did it with pride. This company is failing us not 1150.

That Pax River gig is temporary. After flight test is complete where are you going?

They don’t have any control over that. How about the company moving the 53k to Pax River and Local 1150 forcing the company to make it a WPB seniority area. Which is and will be the case going forward. The plant in wpb closing is terrible but again it’s the company who makes that decision. I suggest anyone in wpb get their A&P license and take a position in PAX river to maintain not only there job but their seniority as well.

Local 1150 , in all fairness has done an excellent job so far. With the exception of the 500 people getting let go in West Palm Beach.
