Thread regarding Pearson PLC layoffs

Feel bad for those left to pick up the pieces

My phone has been ringing off the hook for assistance. I was let go with the layoff so now I don’t answer my phone. The customers are really, really upset. I’ve given them some direction, but holy crap, do I feel bad for those who remained. What a mess! They never got a moment to breathe this summer and will be expected to continue at this pace for the next year. Sure wish I had a clue what anyone was thinking. One thing I know for sure- being let go was the best thing for me. I’m not even angry.

My phone has been ringing off the hook. It’s never felt so good telling my customers I don’t work here anymore and can’t help them. Why Pearsons customers stick around for the same BTS BS every year defies logic.

Nope. Not her. This person has been here for years and will defend Pearson until the end.

Is C.A. back on the board now? If not, let me guess what the profile of this person who is damn happy--2 to 3 years out from some liberal arts college, snaps pics of themselves on campus for Instagram, probably missed goal by 20 percent, and stays out at da club at sales meetings till 2 am feeling like a zombie the next day. I would be damn happy too that my boss hasn't fired me yet!

You mean she is just as annoying in person. Annoying is an understatement.

I don't agree with everything that is said on this site regarding conditions at Pearson, but what kind of person posts that they were "retained and damn happy" while pointing the finger at people laid off? I think we all have a hunch who this person is and, I assure everyone, they are just as annoying in person.

The real question is- if you are so happy at Pearson, why are YOU wasting you're time on every thread on this site, calling people names and dying on the sword for a horrible company. People who were laid off can feel free to vent here. Not everyone was laid off due to performance- trust me. There are many many people with HR records a mile long that should have been let go over the ones that were chosen.

Go deal with the BTS nightmare, lady. As that other poster said, sample yourself a grammar book.

You may want to sample yourself a text on how to properly construct a sentence.

Ever question your self as to why you were laid off when as you self proclaimed already having a new job yet wasting time on this site rather than digging into your new career??

Me thinky that the decision to not retain you had more to do with you than it had to do with Pearson.

Just my opinion though call it a hunch ...

LOL. Gotta love the person that comes on to rub in people's faces that they were "retained and damn happy". Get a life. We were just laid off and the customers are contacting US. I already have a new job and I am "damn happy" too- happier than you'll ever be at Pearson.

I was retained and am damn happy. Anyone wasting time, after being let go, is obviously salty (can’t blame them).

Advice: out your efforts into finding a new job, rather than wasting your time here.

For those of us who were not fortunate enough to be let go, this is a nightmare. Management, I’m told, is just starting to ask questions about what is happening in the field. The fact is many of us began sharing stories of the disaster nearly 2 months ago. No one in management listened, or maybe the message didn’t get through. JF said on his recent call that he felt everything was nearly fixed and sales would not be adversely affected. He should talk to some of our customers. We are losing sales every day. Pearson will one day be a case study of how a great company was dismantled.

I was also laid off and am in contact with some of my customers who have become personal friends. They said they haven't even heard who their new rep, tech specialist or DM are. I pity anyone who is still left working for the hell hole company called Pearson Education. They have a huge job ahead of them.
