Must read from another thread:
There is old IBM (think Manufacturing, legacy HW besides Z, and non-strategic services). If you work in these divisions, you most likely will be sold off, or spun off. Then there is new IBM (think strategic initiatives, cloud, as a service, and some consulting. In addition there will be legacy Z and the patent, and IP stack). IBM loves annuities, and patents / IP fit into that nicely. It’s IBM harvesting their legacy investment from years ago. NET NET IBM will split the company appro 1/3, 2/3’s. That’s almost exactly what IBM India and the rest of IBM delivers (1/3 2/3). IBM will keep some of the strategic portions of IBM India, but then some of the legacy on shore portions of 1st world services will be jettisoned . What IBM does with the revenue for selling, or spinning off of old IBM will show where IBM is focused (at least what their vision of the future is). I still believe LINUX is in IBM’s strategic future, and they will buy their way in
