Thread regarding SeaWorld Entertainment Inc. layoffs

Am I getting this right?

The only people being laid off right now are upper and middle management?

Why exactly is that a bad thing?

Somebody enlighten me, please.

It means that no one is left to actually RUN the company on the ground. It means the managers that are left are doing the workload of at least three people while collecting a much lower payrate than should ever be possible. It means all that work is getting "redistributed and absorbed" to other people. Piled onto other people with NO PAYRAISES.

More work, and pay that is not worth the work.

This means sea world is doing away with salary jobs where they actually have to give people the benefits they deserve. It means that sea world doesn't value loyalty and is happy to cut crucial, important employees that have been with them for years and have unreplaceable knowledge and experience.

They would rather hire new people and pay them 1/4 of what the others were being paid, keep them as an hourly employee or better yet a seasonal employee, never offer raises or room for advancement and keep them on the hamster wheel dangling a carrot of a "part time or full time position " in front of them to make them dance. It's entertainment for the higher ups.

The government can take care of Sea World employees with food stamps and low income medical care. Sea world refuses to take care of its own people. REFUSES.

It is from what i know managers and directors, with a few VPs. they also seem to be doing away with the titles manager, director, VP and going to just leader and senior leader where managers / directors are on the same level.

Can anyone give any specifics as to who is being laid off or how high-up are the people that are being let go?

Because they lay off upper and middle management each year. Eventually no one will be left to actually run the parks. It leaves more work for those left, with no additional pay.

Middle and upper management don’t make these decisions. Easy to project that onto them, but this comes from the exec/board level that tries to squeeze more blood from a rock

Unless other people are being laid off as well. In that case, never mind.
