Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Not everybody has it bad at Occidental

Well, I have to say that I will defend Oxy . So far comparing with previous experiences/employer working for Oxy have been the best. I would not lie that we have some issues inside but the positive overcome the negative. At this particular moment is amazing how management is empowering individuals. In particular the leadership in my BU where we are becoming a role model. #leavenodoubt.

Sad to see the previous posts that is only reflecting that the management of that person fail to him. My recommendation: Speak up frontally with your manager. If this person does not listen, move up and knock doors. I am sure those will open.

good luck,

@ -7csv You'll notice the people at Oxy and employees on this board will act like everything is great and wonderful. They always feel this way when someone else is paying for their workplace bullying and bigotry. Its all ok so long as someone else has to pay for them. There comes a point when they don't get any say or influence over what happens next and that's usually when they have to start paying for their actions.

They have no shame, 6okc. Look at how proud they are of their track record and the persecution they level at people for being different. No shame at all and they will come on here and state that. It goes to the heart of the problem.

How can people on here actually defend a company like Oxy - with the targeted persecution of certain people and bigoted bullying they have leveled against certain people. How the hell can they actually defend that company??! Are they completely ignorant or something or do they believe they are entitled to it or there is nothing wrong with it??

The facts and reputation speak for themselves, as people on these boards have explained with a significant list of examples. Sorry, but the company is what it has proven itself to be. Too many years have passed with little change. Its a club, a bigoted and arrogant one with nothing to be arrogant about. A company which literally can not operate in certain locations in the world due to past incidents, reputation and issues doesn't deserve to be defended. The truth hurts, and the people who defend that have something very serious to resolve with themselves.

I have worked for a few other companies as well, and very good ones at that. I was a little worried about Oxy's reputation when I came to work here a few years back. I am happy to say the company is not what it seems to have been in the past. The new CEO does a great job keeping us all in the loop about things that affect the company, and we are making good strides to keep improving the company. This is not a bad place to work, and they actually go out of their way to help employees. I was very surprised at how Oxy stepped up to help employees during the Harvey and on other occasions as well. This is a very good company to work for and I am glad I am working for Oxy. This is not the old Oxy everyone on this board seems to complain about.

Interesting OP. Oxy must have had to change, they certainly couldn't keep going the way they were. Perhaps you embrace the culture more or you fit in to the kind of company Oxy is, which is nothing to be proud of based on what I've seen and heard first hand. Empowerment was very different when it was given to others to persecute, bully and victimize people, especially when speaking up received further persecution and retaliation. However, their track record of performance and disgrace with just about all assets will always speak for itself. Keep getting the word out about this company and, of course, good luck. You will need it.

If you don't have it bad, maybe you are the problem with others having it bad.
