This tension is killing me

We are all going through this together. Why sit here and bash and exchange name calling. Everyone should expect cuts to come rather you hear it from here, yammer, or your mistress. Very few people know what's going on and those who do most likely aren't posting it on this forum. Reddit is much more suitable.
Not surprised if they keep small core NA and outsource the rest and slash NA R&D. Doesn't seem like a long-term/career growth place to be any more.
Yes
@V0vBLfZ-5bzk Again, you are delusional; nowhere in my post did I mention anything "authoritative". You're implying I have nothing better to do than to troll a random, anonymous message board. Oh well, there's no helping those who don't want to be helped.
@V0vBLfZ-5spg whoever starts with "Yes, I'm involved in those discussions at a high level....." and posts here , even Bots/Trolls do a better job. Everyone by now gained the knowledge that the footprint is going to be cut across the board , what prompted is your "Authoritative Identity" to support the strength of the content posted , let your next post would be more convincing..
@V0vBLfZ-5hxb If you think that was a troll post then you are clearly delusional and/or a troll yourself.
@V0vBLfZ-5qcx ha ha LoL and Dumb TroLL.
@V0vBLfZ-5mks Yes, I'm involved in those discussions at a high level and the plan is to slim down the US footprint across the board. You can probably guess for yourself, but the goal is consolidation even in mainframe; the saying is that we don't need 3+ locations. Plano is the most favorable location of the bunch, so if you're based there then you have a significantly better shot at being kept. Lisle and Pittsburgh will see cuts, and ultimately most of the manpower will be located in either PTC or ITC. A core group of people will be kept in the US mostly for SME and support capacities.
Wondering about mainframe R&D in Lisle, Plano, and Pittsburgh.. lots of stable products with many customers but will cuts be deep for them in Nov and then start shifting the teams overseas?
If i were you, i would stop looking at all the rumors that is floating around. If you are an Engineer working in a BU that is profitable and is well known ( featured in Gartner quadrant), your job could be safe.
They will let the respective managers know by mid of October for sure.
I don't known about y'all but if they retain me I'm leaving asap. I'll take severance if they offer it but if they offer me a permanent position I will accept it only long enough to find something else.... enough is enough
The M&A guys are very busy right now at CA. Lots of PE buyers looking for value additions to their portfolio, so that Broadcom can sell of pieces right after acquisition.
I think the best products to divest will be the ones that run at around 15-25% gross margin. Lots of opportunity to lean them out to hit 10% higher. Anything that's not turning at least 10% will probably just be shut down.
This is the one time where it's best to be a mainframer, as their ranks have already been thinned and their margins are exactly what Broadcom is looking for.
The worst of all scenarios might be getting retained in a non-Mainframe BU and sold off to private equity. There is a good chance you lose your severance in that scenario.
I’m pretty sure the BMC/Bain buyout was going to be a similar scenario - milk the mainframe and sell off/squeeze the rest. Bikeboy probably shipped that business plan around to others with deep pockets and found a buyer in Broadcom
This will be a bloodbath. I know for a fact that CA is fielding calls from private equity firms looking to pull meat off the bone. The one PE firm that I know is talking to CA has made it abundantly clear that they'll lay off as many people as possible in order to squeeze every ounce of profit they can.
Please please please let it be soon. A severance check in November would be sweeeeeeeeet
Do you guys think a company that doesn't own you can communicate your status now? They can't. You will find out when the ownership transfers. Read the other posts, if you are in any of the groups at risk, you should assume you don't have a job.
From what I understand, we wont know until Nov 5th, which is pretty terrible not knowing if you have a job that day going in (probably not lol)
