Any thoughts?

-hczy, Now that you've covered all the reasons that there is no reason the Covington office should move (Phone, internet and videocon work fine) regardless of the location of assets, do you have any reason why they would want to? I know of none, although I am in a totally different location across the country. I have visited there before and it's a great location, and I was treated wonderfully and had a blast! I don't want to be rude but I prefer going there far more than some other locations I will not mention.
The Covington office will eventually close and this thread will finally end. Thank God if the sooner the better.
Being close to assets is a 20th century idea. There is no longer much need for office staff to visit field locations or vice versa, except for a tiny fraction of workers. Phone, internet and videocon work fine. Covington sacrifices 100% of the staff having synergy with Houstonited in the same building for 1% having synergy with field locations hours away. Cajun logic.
@hhlr, No, it makes absolutely no business sense at all. The Covington office is in a very strategic location, great access to assets as the NOLA office always has been. The operating costs there are very competitive as well. It's obvious that you are an envious troll. They will not be moving anytime soon. Dream on, though, if that's your fancy - lol!
These Covington folks belong in Houston, makes good business sense.
With all the empty space in the Covington office I heard they were considering leasing some of it out for a nursing home. That could be interesting given the sunset nature of the CVX work and workers there. And imagine retiring and just moving into a room down the hall permanently! 24/7 access to Community Crawffee!
-bejs, I am part of the San Ramon CBRES team that handles the real estate holdings for the company. Our long term agreements with the city of Covington are being renegotiated and we’re making satisfactory progress in 5ge interest of both parties. It’s too early to determine when or if Chevron reduces its presence in Covington or makes a full exit in the future. I cannot provide any more details.
I am part of the Covington team that handles the agreements with the city of Covington. We are here to stay for the foreseeable future. All things do change but we have some solid commitments that make it beneficial for us to stay here. Get some sleep and don't worry about it.

The only, and I mean ONLY good thing about New Orleans and surrounding area is the best shrimp & oyster poboys on the face of the planet. Houston can’t even come close to creating such a simple yet heavenly culinary sandwich. Aside from the poboy, though, the I-10 is the next best thing in New Orleans— Taking you the hell out of there.
Nothing worse than people doing something just for $$$. I even met a lady at CVX who said she was mostly working there just for the paycheck. So shallow!
I lived and worked for CVX in both New Orleans and Houston. Lived in very nice neighborhoods close to the office in both cities: New Orleans - uptown, Houston - Rice Village. In my opinion, Houston has no culture or soul. Never met anyone who was from Houston, only people that had moved there to make $$$. New Orleans, on the other hand, has a vibe that can't be matched anywhere. So sad when they moved the NO office to COV. Still would have preferred a blue van and the causeway over 1500 LA. Shrimp & oyster poorboy >>>>> Tex Mex. Ayeee!
I love the armpit of Texas. Better than the crotch of Louisiana.
Covington was built to get out of New Orleans.
Wishful thinking. Not gonna happen. Please keep up entertained with your lack of stress-management, though.
Work in Houston all you like @3nyy. Make room for the Covington exodus that will soon happen.
Covington is a very strategic location for access to GOM and many assets. In addition, the location is inexpensive to maintain and outside of the major coastal flood zones in their current location. Don't expect them to drag up out of there anytime soon or even in any of your lifetimes. I currently work in Houston.
People said the same about the Lafayette office until they spent millions to build the Covington office.
