Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Layoffs will keep happening

Look at number of employees at our nearest competitors. EOG for example has one fifth the number of employees that we do. We have five or six times if not more employees than comparable E&P companies. This is what Wall Street keeps pointing out and what our management has to deal with. Until we get down to comparable numbers Wall Street is not going to let up.

Now that is really important, Gravy or Gravey.. Just a stupid piece of c-ap would notice that instead of the content of the message. No wonder they laying people off.. The c-ap they have left is a bunch of butt smoochers….

You spelled “gravy” wrong while explaining how stupid everyone else is, Mr. President.

This company is run by id--ts. If we were in any other sector, other than oil and gas, we’d be out of business. Working here is like being on a gravey train with biscuit wheels - money for nothing.

When you sell off assets to fund stock buybacks, reduction in "our greatest assets" must follow.

This exercise looks more like a deck chair shuffling than the zero-basing that was actually needed

My 3 contractors do all my work for me, that is why I keep them.

The contractors are a whole new issue all together. I wonder why there are so many since we have so many talented employees. This is telling, I just can't figure out why it is.

Contractors are not a part of the headcount. We do/did have 11K+ employees. There will more than likely be more rounds since this round didn't achieve the numbers for G&A.

Houston has a headcount of around 3,500, which includes contractors.

Is the number of ConocoPhillips employees being reported by Wall Street and the news correct? Why do we have so many and where are they? I keep thinking they are still counting all the retail, downstream, and mid-stream employees we no longer have. If we really do have 11,000+ employees we are in trouble!
