Thread regarding Symantec Corp. layoffs

More layoffs at Symantec

It's sad. I left the Norton Core team several months ago. It was not a healthy work environment and there were a lot of politics. I just heard today that pretty much the entire team was laid off. Wow!

They are far from the only ones let go. I know of several teams that were completely decimated, including mine. How we are supposed to continue functioning on bare bones staff is beyond me.

Left in 2017 after a decade. My only regret is not leaving sooner. I hear there are more layoffs on the way, which isn’t surprising since it seemed like an annual occurrence when I was there.

I left at the end of 2017. Left after 17 years, and I felt the same way. It was a little jarring at first, since Symantec was the better part of my working life, but after being gone for almost a year now I have a lot less stress, I'm doing a lot more productive work, and the toxic culture that I had become so accustomed to finally revealed itself. The working environment at Symantec is not healthy, and I think a lot of people either put up with it because they're comfortable with their role, or they simply don't know any better. I was a little of both, but, I agree, leaving was the best decision for me, as well.

I left in 2017, it was the best decision of my life. I really did not like all the necessary pressure. I do get that there has to be some pressure sometimes, but my manager was not good at selecting when to turn the pressure on. Hence, we had pressure 24/7
