Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Can we benefit from Sears' bankruptcy?

I'm not trying to make light of Sears bankruptcy because I can imagine how people working there feel right now, but does anybody else think that this can work in our favor? That's one major (semi)competitor off the market, at least partially.

Could this mean a bump in our sales in near future?

Sears/Kmart has been out of business for years, they just haven't turned out the lights yet. With that said, how well as that been working for Bed Bath? The issues at Bed Bath aren't because Sears has taken the customer base. Will be no help at all. Could in fact hurt Bed Bath in that consumers will be even less likely to trust a retailer struggling like BBB is, they may worry that the same could happen and they would be left without recourse for faulty product or gift cards.

The liquidation sales at Sears will drive traffic into their locations initially so that won't help. And let's be honest, it wasn't the might of BBB that drove Sears under. The benefits will be minimum if at all. JCPenney is more likely to see a bump before Bed Bath will.
