The downside on the Walmart partnership

I know that there is almost a panic urge not to fall behind in the area of e-commerce and that the idea was to take on Amazon, but I see a big downside to this whole Walmart story. Everyone knows that the car parts market is a specific market and in that sense, it needs it’s one online sales concept, so I don't see the solution in just integrating our offering into Walmart's network of online sales.

On the other hand, this partnership with Walmart, by some chance, success, we will be depending on their online infrastructure to a point that we can’t survive without it. It would have been much better if have gone into the e-commerce market by ourselves and on time.

I see the tail wagging the dog on this venture, once all the pertinent data is acquired from Advance it would be very easy for Walmart to assume the supply line and run with the ball themselves.

Walmart will say jump, AAP will ask, how high? I imagine some big changes when they roll the new website out.

Walmart is going through some big changes right now, too (with staffing and a slew of assistant managers that don't have permanant stores.) And they have been considering grouping their stores as a 'family' as well. Time will tell.
