Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Laid off after 10 years service

I never expected I would get the news that I got this week. I was called into the office of a senior executive. I knew changes were coming and expected the meeting was to catch the department up on them, not that I was going to be laid off. The executives in the room didn’t want to be there any more than I did, it was a difficult decision and one that was not personal. After my layoff I have had several phone calls from HR, my boss, and other leaders offering support and condolences. I am welcome to apply for another position in the bank and they will do whatever I need to help me through this transition. I hope to never experience a lay-off again, but I will say that they did it with grace and they truly care about their people. I am not sure what my future holds, but I still love Usbank.

I’ve accepted another position and didn’t have to take any time in between. Luckily I am at the same salary and will be able to continue my job search without wondering if I’d lose benefits or having to pay the extremely high COBRA costs.

I wish others in similar situations the best, and while I still feel slightly broken from this experience- I know good will come from it as well. Staying positive and looking forward to my next step.

I hope that you land well although I would be skeptical of a re-hire. US Bank’s HR and hiring processes are notoriously slow. You need to look out for yourself and your family’s financial future first. Your former co-workers are already bracing themselves for the next wave.

I wish you the best, please update once you secure another position.

Sorry some of you are so bitter.. they are actively trying to place each of us elsewhere to avoid losing the ones that were laid off ( at least in my business line). Upper management didn’t want to let anyone go, they had no option. I remain positive and hopeful in human kind.. I will find employment and continue to support this company. It still remains a good place to work and colleagues have become family.

My spouse was also laid off. What kind of severance did they offer you?

You blind sheep. They are subtly telling you to get your fat lazy a$$ out and stay out. All with smiles on their faces. Are you really this dense?

They are not calling you to offer support or condolences. They’re feeling you out to see if you’re going to sue or come in with a gun.
