Thread regarding Sears layoffs

What is going on with AP?

Read alot of info here but really no talk of AP recently. I am former AP for kmart and still know peeps in company. Anybody know anything? Any recent cuts of zmaps or regionals?

We have no in-store AP, just a district AP manager. He drives 80 miles out to our store to hold a store wide "safety rally" to discuss obvious things we already know, like "what do you do if you see water or liquid on the floor?" (well, you clean it up and set out wet floor cones, duh!), then we never see him for another six months or so.

Oh, there's the remote monitoring, but please tell me how they are going to stop a shoplifter from 1000 miles away. Reach through the cameras? Take fuzzy stills to print out and hang up on a cork board "Wall of Shame"?

I always thought that it was really unwise to take AP out of the stores. If they really had to make cuts to AP, they could have trained managers and leads in AP processes including apprehension so that there was some way to mitigate the stealing, because we have several shoplifters and some are so emboldened that they don't even bother concealing the merchandise. They'll just push a full cart of stuff right out the door or walk right past you with something like a mechanic's tool set or a vacuum.

AP is a thing of the past.

At BEST, there is district-level AP, who visit the stores once in a while.

At the store level, there is no AP. Customers carry out flat screen TV's without paying, with impunity.

Who cares? There is nothing left worth stealing anyway at a Sears or Kmart unless you want a 30" Polaroid TV, clothing that has been hanging around for 5 years, or a long expired box of cough syrup.

The whole company is hanging on by a thread. If anyone is affected, then everyone is. More, if not all, stores will close. And in closed stores, no AP is needed.
