Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

ConocoPhillips has cut 10 percent of Houston workforce in 2018

That number includes open jobs that the company didn’t fill, said Al Hirshberg, ConocoPhillips’ executive vice president of production, drilling and projects. The cuts were a part of ConocoPhillips’ efforts to reduce costs, efforts that Hirshberg said on the call were not complete.

“We’re not done, we’re never done,” Hirshberg said. “We continue to focus on our costs, even as oil prices have come back up.”

The COP CIO has announced that he is "all in" with the cloud, that should start the downsizing of Bartlesville IT. Phillips 66 is doing the same thing and their layoffs are to resume Jan 1 2019 in Bartlesville/Worldwide.

I am guessing the next two years will dismantle Bartlesville. Leaving some of the Finance and HR people in Bartlesville. But that can easily be moved to Houston, for both companys.

Sure is. They don’t really need it. But they’re more scared of the negative PR associated with making it the next Ponca City than they are the cost of keeping it open

Just curious, but. Is Bartlesville still open for business?

“Modest” cuts except for the lives and families impacted.

Capital Expenditures are increasing because of higher than expected cost escalation.

Besides having worst-in-class exploration, and most incompetent management, we can’t forecast costs. Look for some of these guys to “retire” with nice severances ina few months. It’s what we do, sever the little guys and reward the big guys.
