The current CTO is trying to solve problems he experienced as a network operator at Google. He is solving yesterday's problems, and not innovating for the future. His focus is on automation and DevOps. Not that these are areas that need solutions, but competitors already have good solutions. Juniper is trying to buy themselves out of the void or play catch up right now.
Other companies in this space are focusing on solving problems with AI and Machine learning. They are "innovating" with these new technologies. Solving tomorrows problems today.
Juniper used to be like that. Not anymore. Only a handful or developers are involved with these types of technologies at Juniper. Not really innovative either... just "me too" solutions.
These are the reasons why people from Juniper have trouble finding jobs.
