See my post under the project oak thread strategy vs execution! Stand your ground, don’t be bullied or harassed. They want you to leave for obvious reasons. In terms of your integrity, continue to document, talk to someone you trust, take it from there .. Though there are documented policies and procedures at HSBC they appear to be just that! Lacking ideological purity. It is difficult to get through the HR baracade. Try , document and if necessary assert your rights through the Federal labour board, integrity commission or the Canadian human rights commission.Take good care of yourself! Breathe, Be well.

They are happening now in large waves but expect this is preliminary round with another batch happening in the fall and certainly before Christmas. Lay-offs seen so far include many long time employees who have a tremendous amount of knowledge and skill. However these same people have been raising compliance concerns and asking how current initiatives are serving customers. Those that work in development know that most of what has been created in the push to digitize is just lipstick on a pig. Systems remain antiquated but if it can be made to look like it works, go for it no matter the risk. As long as it looks good presenting to the board, to hell with what customers need or want. After 20 years with HSBC, i’ve Chosen to leave the bank but will wait until Christmas in hope that I’m layed off with a compensation package rather than quit. If I’m not escorted out by end of year, I’ll leave to find work with a company that I can trust. What HSBC has become in last few years is something that my personal integrity can’t support any more. Many of my colleagues have the same feeling and plan.
