Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Global Procurement at Xerox never fails to amaze me

Watched once again how a certain group within global procurement were allowed to protect their friends and their jobs from the lay-off on Oct 30. They justified laying off 80% of people of color just because ..:......

Mnc, I think you are misinterpreting the comments. I posted the comment immediately preceding yours. I would never try to claim that there was no favoritism. There always is. I don’t know the make up if GP or what color the chosen few might be. My point is that, in my opinion, Xerox will not adversely impact any protected group when you look at Xerox as a whole. I don’t believe that Icahn would be willing to risk losing money just to make some prejudiced managers happy. He doesn’t care anymore about what the GP management wants than he does about the employees that were laid off. Make no mistake, the people calling the shots are Icahn’s “good old boys/girls” & they are out for no one but themselves.

I see there are many Global Procurement supporters. I bet you are one of the many beneficiaries with years of moving up the ladder on the backs of others all because you were smart enough to hold meetings after hours. How dare you defend this organization with its history of treating people outside of its "good old boys" and "good old girls" network. I know for a fact that Global Procurement had at one time 15 individuals outside the "good old boys" network and as recent as August they have laid off over 50% of that group. I guess Global Procurement received the memo from JohnV where he stated he does not believe in the "quota system".

I think depending on what organization you are looking at the layoffs can seem to reflect a certain type of prejudice. I would guess though, that I total for the company, they have balanced it out so no group is being disproportionately impacted. I’m sure it has nothing to do with any sense of fair play or concern for members of any protected group. They just don’t want to be sued, and especially they don’t want to lose a lawsuit.

If any kind of discrimination is going on with the layoffs at Xerox it is age discrimination. They hired the new COO Joanne Collins Smee from IBM that was sued and lost $3.5 Million for IBM. The article was on an earlier post. Https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20180910005755/en/

Seriously...Trump? You're blaming Trump? You people are paranoid if you think Xerox if laying off people based on the quantity of melanin in their skin. Under current US Labor Laws, that's a slam dunk lawsuit. Please get into counseling now...because it going to cost you more next year when deductibles go up.

FYI.. How Kodak did it. All supervisors ranked their employees. Ex: If he has 100 people, it was manatory that 15% [15 in this case] be ranked as failing. WHEN his group came up these people where out the door. THEN the rankings would repeat, the lowest 15% for perforamce where ranked for the next round. Supervisers would alreaady know who was leaving next.

This is how it was explain to us. Bankurcy followed within 2 years.

15% Engineers, 15% techs, 15% production,.......repeat, repeat....

I believe that GE started this and it was call "RANK AND YANK" for their excututives. Google it.

So I have seen it hundreds of times, if your work is drying up [boss has little to do with you], your numbers up.

If there's one thing this company has never done, it's target people of color (or women, for that matter) for layoffs. Having had to choose people to lay off in the past, I can tell you that in a few cases I was not allowed to lay off a couple of low performing people who happened to be minorities and instead was forced to lay off higher performing white males. By the way, I am not a white male!

Are you implying that Xerox is targeting "people of color" for layoffs? I don't the exact criteria that is being used but I can assure you that layoffs here are not singling out any race. White, brown, black, yellow all the colors of the rainbow are being let go. Get over yourself.

More information please? What do you mean 80% people of color? 80% of people let go in Global Procurement were people of color, or the group was 80% that way?
