Graduating in December. Offered CSE role for 62700 base at RTP campus. Am I getting swindled?

Take the job, but keep looking. After a year or so, step up the looking.
As a previous CSE new hire, that salary is almost exactly what I was offered. Looks pretty standard and is a good salary starting out in the RTP area. You can afford housing, health care expenses, eat well, and enjoy some decent vacations.
CSE he is talking about is Customer Service Engineer (TAC) not Consulting Systems Engineer in sales
The biggest benefit and most important aspect of any job is what you will learn while doing it. You are much better off in the long run taking a job at 60 K in which you will obtain a vast amount of knowledge than you are at 90 K in a job where you will not learn marketable skills. This is something you should remember your entire career IMHO.
Good luck!
You’d have to pay me a lot more than that to live there.
The UK is no bench mark for fitness.
Having just returned from the UK, I can say that I saw more fat people than the US
Are you being swindled? Check out average salaries around the world. Cisco shareholders are being swindled. No wonder jobs go overseas. Explains why yanks are....a little heavy?
Accepting a university hire position is a bit risky. Most Cisco university hires spend their day promoting themselves on LinkedIn & Twitter. Do not expect quality work experience.
RTP standard of living is a lot less then Silicon Valley. 62k is wonderful for a new grad here.
GOOG, FB are paying $110k for new grads, CSCO is for dummies
That’s $1000 more than mine in 2017
you could also check that job description in RTP in Salary.com to confirm the rate. Sounds like a good offer for any new graduate.
'Take it. It’s a great start' !!! Could not agree more - this is an excellent offer and opportunity - you are fortunate; must have impressed someone, Duke EE maybe? Cisco is not perfect by any means, but it is by far the Best House is a rough neighborhood. You could do so much worse! Good luck!
Take it. It’s a great start. Way more than you’d be making at McDonalds. Think about it.
Raises? Lol. Had to make sure I was on the Cisco board.
Wow, things must have changed a lot since I graduated. I would've been thrilled to make that out of undergrad. Personally, I think it would be a good option. You get to build your resume, work for a large tech company and get experience. Good luck!
Dude, it's fine. Take the job. You'll get great experience and you'll learn a lot. Even if you get laid off at some point, you're young enough that you'll land back on your feet quickly. The salary is fine for a grade 6. If you have a good team and do a good job, you'll get raises and bonuses.
I call BS. If you are a new graduate being offered a CSE role at any salary, there’s something badly wrong with the system.
Or Cisco is really desperate.
Cisco is the new hp/ibm/avaya
Normal everyday RTP grade 10 is double that salary, plus bonus and RSUs
If you are from Asian countries then accept the same and work till you get a residency status or get fired
That seems WAY too low.
Cisco is essentially a stepping stone to a real job. In RTP, you will struggle to find job opportunities outside of Cisco. It's difficult to obtain projects in RTP as a university hire...
low salary + poor work experience = accept if you don't have any other offers
