Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

I would want to work for Cisco again.

I would want to work for Cisco again. I got my notice. It's just business. Great culture, great people. I'll get another job, the market is great, but I will totally look for an opportunity to come back. The business is changing (anyone surprised should listen to the Earnings Calls).... I would want to work for Cisco again.

Saying "it's just business" is massive BS. I'm sorry, but a LR is very personal, and is NOT just business. "Business" means forecasting your resources properly, and when you need to rebalance, you take the hard road and retrain/move your valuable resources (which you hired) from a weak area to a strong area.

OP, you must not have kids, mortgage, bills or friends for that matter. Seriously, who enjoys getting used and thrown away like yesterdays milk? It's just business? GTFOH! Lives are turned upside down, some people commit s---c-de and it's OK because it's just business and to not take it personal? You want the best out of people? Treat them with respect and do good by them and that optimal performance will come naturally. Doing good for our fellow human beings IS good for business. Doing what Cisco does every year by balancing the books with layoffs is not good for business. Plain and simple! This is the culture that needs to change at Cisco. I'm glad to no longer be part of this company. Care to guess if I'll ever recommend Cisco products and services to anyone?

Try to stay positive those that are impacted... I went through this back in 2016 after a 16 year run, but because of my network and keeping skills relevant, I was back 3 months to the day after my last day. Did a year in the job I was hired into and now in a better position. Essentially ended up having a 3 month paid vacation. Also have heard many finding success at other companies... stay persistent, vigilant, and MOST IMPORTANTLY HAVE A PLAN (aka. money in the bank) when the grim reaper comes.
