Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

Bad CEO

Here's why I have lost a lot of confidence in our new CEO:

1) He has not made significant and meaningful changes at the top, such as removing the significant incompetence of EVP's such as DZ and HC, as well as the VP's associated with the COP transaction.

2) Regardless of the 'talk' of a better culture, he seems disconnected to the perfect storm brewing with this open concept / Brookfield move.

3) He started his role with a layoff round focused on lower job grade levels and promoted certain people to VP levels. He has removed all Fridays off in the summer and rolled back other incentives; while saying culture is getting better. It is not.

4) He appears to be a 'marketer' with all the facetime 'talk' on INC, but lacks action and leadership such as implementing meaningful changes. Talk is talk.. waiting for some Action. An easy change would be moving the DB staff into the BOW to start integrating the staff, systems and culture.

5) Appears to be insecure by calling any public criticism of the company 'reprehensible'. Frightening to know what he might do to a corporate 'whistleblower' who is "required to call out any kind of information or activity that is deemed illegal, unethical, or not correct within an organization that is either private or public" (Wiki).

In Conclusion: all I can see so far since he has started is how much he has taken away from employees and acted like the friendly smiling giggling uncle on screen so we feel happy and accepting about it.

Still waiting for meaningful action to 'right' the business and get us back on track. I don't doubt the shareholders feel the same.

…also, look out because "...culture eats strategy for breakfast"...

@7agw what can he do when everyone from the executive level down only know how to "kiss a--" and "cover a--"?

ALcaPon is looking around, trying to digest all sh...t that Fergie did. The only thing can save the situation is commodity if it goes up. other than that I don't see ALcaPon will do anything

I can’t lose confidence in AlPo because I never had any to begin with. All the smoke and mirrors do nothing to hide his actions - stocks the company with his friends including his personal assistant who now doubles for Little Zs EA (awkward), constantly puts his mug on INC and tells you he’s one of you, does nothing to rein in any of his leaders, spends thousands on consultants to try to fix the dysfunction in the 26th floor sand box, all the while taking benefits and bonus $ away from the staff. Leaders lead by example - nice try AlPo but I’d call this you an epic failure

I agree. He is wasting too much time on Inc like a salesman.. I’m not buying it. Need to see some real changes like DZ before I start to follow this guy.

The guy has done nothing. Zip.

Turned a blind eye to leadership dysfunction? Check.

Rewarded bad behaviour and politicking? Check.

All talk no action? Check.

I totally understand why he was hired. To provide continuity from previous CEO.
