Thread regarding Sears layoffs

CEO is a crook plain and simple. No raises, took away discounts, cut hours, sold off brands. All to pad his bank account. What was a long time

Not sure I would call EL a 'crook' but rather I believe his big ego got in the way in managing Sears.... rather than letting former CEO's make their own decisions, he constantly interfered with hired executives.... and also some questionable hires like Alwyn Lewis and Lou DiAmbrosio (pardon spelling) ... these guys did not have retail experience. It has been a constant revolving door of executives and strategies... one 'hail Mary' pass after another. If you created a list of top execs hired and fired it would be 'pages' long. The when he made himself CEO, that was the final bad decision. But, he was majority stockholder and the BOD didn't veto. Bottom line, no matter how you slice it, he totally mismanaged the company. He might have been a great hedge fund operator but the facts clearly show on the retail side "not so much". Nothing personal in my statements.... the numbers themselves tell the story. Now, many of us who drank the Sears Kool-aid the past few years are paying the price.

After they took away associate discount, yes Leena was the one who pushed for that, I shopped maybe twice after that. Not really a fan of point or coupon to be redeemed later. I wanted instant gratification of receiving a discount. All points I received mostly expired and worthless after a short period. What I hate most about shopping at sears.com is that they don't have anything that I can buy and ship to a nearby store for me to pick up. Nothing in stock. I was really mad sometime that I couldn't help the company I worked for.

What I don't get is that why BOD don't booth these people, Leena and Eddie and those guys who came and went, after they screwed up year after year. They must be in bed with each other to not do anything for shareholders and for employees. What a bunch of crooks.

@VkC487o-eco I can also say in my store as I mentioned a lot of people would buy at Sears. Not only were the employees spending the money at the store also the relatives. I have to say that ever since that I saw sales slip down. I could also say that relatives have asked me about buying products (especially appliances) and I basically tell them not to buy it their. We the employees can fight back the company and it actually hurt for what they did.

Cut labor which cut sales which cut product which cut buildings which justified the sales to "keep the company afloat"

Once again the people at the top didn’t realize who their best customers were. The employees. In my area, they ran off all the competent management and employees. Do you think that any of them, their family or friends spend any money at Sears or Kmart anymore. That would be no. But let’s just be honest. They don’t care. This was the plan all along.

I dont think they realized just how much of their sales were employees and family. Our stores sales took a dive as soon as the discount stopped. I used to spend thousands (SYW platinum member) every year but I havent bought over $100 worth of stuff since the discount was taken away. How about the rest of you?

@VkC487o-lso I don't know what being a thief has to be with getting rid of the discount. I remember as I said lots of my co workers would buy lots of stuff with the discount to save some money when payday came. They brought the whole points so employees would spend the money for more points which didn't work at all it really discouraged people to buy stuff at Sears.

It was Leena who smugly took the discount away. Remember her defending it? She could not have cared any less about the impact on employees. Enormous HR blunder. Showed extreme disrespect for the associates.

I really believe when they got rid of the discount it really hurt sales in our store and I am sure nation wide. Sad is that the only employees that I think would buy from Sears were actual workers from Sears. I remember when my co workers would wait for pay day or even F&F to stack their discount to save money. It was a big slap in the face when they got rid of the discount I stopped using the Sears credit card. The very rare times I buy I use my bank credit card so they can get charged a fee.

When they took away the employee discount that was such a smack in our face.. had to be Leena that dreamed up this scam.. thinking associates would buy into that extra syw points baloney..

I’m sure the top executives don’t even shop at sears/Kmart and don’t really need a discount with their yearly wages.

The few things I have purchased since the discount was taken away, I have not been impressed with any syw points I’ve received as an employee

It use to be nice getting that 20% discount on stuff, even clearance at our sears store..

Top brass does not care about the employees at all!
