Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

A question

What happens if I don't want to accept the offer and Verizon really wants me out? I'm assuming that would put me at the top of the list for the next layoffs, but all things considered, it still seems like a better option than what I am being offered. What could be the downside of that? I really don't want to make a mistake on this one.

Per the email from reed

If you volunteer and they say no and then turn around and rif you before June 28 you get the enhanced package. So I’m thinking rif I July?

If you do not volunteer you can’t get the enhanced package in you are riffed.

They obviously have a number in mind of dollars that need to be saved so if the number of volunteers is too low and you're on the eligible list for the buyout then they could RIF you tomachieve their goal. If that happens prior to end of June 2019 and you were on the eligible list for the buyout then you will get the buyout package. After June 2019 you get standard RIF package regardless of whether you were on the buyout list.

If you've lined up your title and age in the .PDF shared you're already on the list. There is no other list you'd be added to.

If you are in IT is a different story. You could be part of Infosys and after 1 year you are out of the job with no severance. There is no guarantee that they won't do the same again with the rest of the teams.

Buyout FAQ says standard severance package. 2 weeks pay & medical per year of service. 35 week cap.

Any package offered later will be likely lower (maybe much) than what's on the table today. Probably two weeks instead of three and a cap lower than 60 weeks.
