Face it folks, the C suite in Verizon is known for one thing... Boosting there dollars and laying off Employees. If this 44k outsource is a surprise to you, then you've been blinded by the board. When Vodafone sold the 49% stake back, Wireless, the only cash cow of the company was purged. Its all they know how to do, buy failed companies, try to integrate, fail at that then CUT CUT CUT.. The last time I used their wireless service was 10 years ago, canceled it just before I left VZW, writing has bee on the wall for years.. They never cared about the employees, Danny, Lowell and the rest talked a good game, took the VZW profits, wasted them on everything from AOL (EPIC FAIL) to Rebranding, ya that Check mark was worth 8 Billion dollars..
I wish you all good luck, take the voluntary package if you can, rework the resume and find something better.. Telcom is just a commodity now, yiu'd be better off somewhere else....
If you think your job at Infosys will last for 2 more years (as guaranteed) then think again. During the first 6 months to 1 year, they will ask you to train someone else (from India or someone getting paid a lot less then you or working on several projects instead of just one project - like you are) and then they will offer you a position at a different state (far from where you live). If you are unwilling to move to the other job location (out of state), then you will have to quit without any severance because YOU ARE Quitting on your own - they are not laying you off. You won't get unemployment either. This happened to my ex-company who transferred jobs to a different Indian company (not Infosys).
What will happen to domestic contractors? Will the positions be moved to Infosys?

First a Nice big tax cut, then In June/July CWA workers surrendered big on health care costs...and still not enough for this company. More American workers will lose jobs and good luck hoping 45 is going to save your jobs. Profits above people seem to be the motto of the day. CEO pay getting higher and people that made these companies successful get screwed. Great for India, Great for Exec's... and as usual bad for workers. Well here's to Making AmuriKKKa great again....lol!!!!!

I am an American and I got hired by Infosys after 3 months of grueling unemployment and job search. All the American companies were giving me a hard time. They were all probably looking for a perfect match and younger than 35. Infosys on the other hand was respectful throughout the interview process and was even willing to train me in some technology that I do not have experience in. So cudos to Infosys. All those so called American companies are all full of foreigners anyway and many of them just waste your time interviewing. They don't tend to hire unless you have connections. That's why I like Indian outsourcing companies.
I wonder if my work in network repair would be affected, should I start learning Hindi?

Wow, just wow. This is heartbreaking. After reading all the c-ap about Hans. I am very curious to know how and why he is our CEO! Apparently we need to change our credo .... it does not seem like integrity is the core of who we are!!!!
