Amen...it's true
CONtrail is way better then the rest of the cesspool. This group has no elms of being superior to rest of the dogs**t that Junkier is. They have a complex, but it's with equal distribution and without any malicious intent. These are the best we have, the rest is a cesspit of nepotism, racial discrimination and ulterior agendas. Here your nationality/color/religion/caste is all that matters. Rest of Junkier is only trying to screw each other in every possible way. You can expect everything you do will be stolen for the benefit of upper one's connected and related. CONtrail doesn't discriminate in ignoring rest of Junkier and the senior management. There is no one with sense remaining in vast majority of teams, they have all left or been shown the door. It's a sinking ship in every sense.
Juniper (and the Contrail group) is not a good place to work. Even though juniper offers attractive salaries the future is bleak, at best. Given there are many other options in this space it would be better to work for someone else such as Arista, Bigswitch, Cisco, HP/Aruba, PAN etc.
Contrail BU did not follow the process setup to build highly reliable software at juniper. Service Providers love Junos OS because of its reliability, functional capabilities and ability to scale. Contrail was trying to become the next Apple. They wanted to build something no one else else had and sell itself. Unfortunately, they failed and by creating so much annimosity with the rest of the company and other engineering teams, took down the company with them.
I have personally experienced the BS by the contrail team. They were arrogant. Incompetent. Selfish. The results have been devastating for all of Juniper.
My advice is to avoid Contrail and Juniper. There are many other places you could work, grow, and be happy.
Contrail was just a scam done to transfer money from Juniper shareholders to Ankur, Kireeti, Khosla (VC) and rest of their buddies. The intent was never to build a profit-making business. Overall Juniper is a highly political place. Your career can reach great heights if you have the right connections and you know whose a-- to s---. Some people are good at such things, for such people Contrail (or any other part of Juniper) is an excellent place to work.
No.
I worked with Contrail for almost 3 years out of EMEA and ran POC's etc. for both SP's and Enterprises - lost every enterprise POC to NSX or Nuage. It was a great product but IMHO, was very poorly executed in market. Contrail BU under Ankur was the worst possible BU i have ever experienced in my entire career. Not only they won't help with any POC or with any support, they won't even respond to any email/query unless Rami and Kireeti was in copy. The entire BU was a joke. After a while, in April 2017, of course Ankur left to start his own company and then I realised why these guys were loathe to do anything to generate business for Juniper. Otherwise you would think a loss-making BU would jump at the opportunity to have a go at ANY POC or absolutely ANY opportunity at all! Contrail, till I worked with it, which was till late 2017, was a great product but at a kitchen-sink level. If the new CTO , Mr. BK has been able to productise it professionally with a wrapping of well defined SLA's and support structure (and not just a fudge like before) then it can still be a great product.
