Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Die hard batteries

I hear through the grapevine that both suppliers of diehard batteries have cut Sears off. CASH ON DELIVERY.

Haven't had a battery shipment in about 3 months.

It's not due to battery levels being "adjusted" as corporate has said because I ran out of the most popular group sizes 2 months ago and still have gotten a resupply of them.

More than likely a payment issue as we had to start paying for batteries up front before they would ship them.

Same thing is going on with tires right now. Been selling through all of our good/better/premium tires and get 1/4 back in of the budget Laufenn tires. Haven't seen a Michelin roll off the truck in ages.

Basically, if the supplier won't give us supply on a credit basis, we won't be getting it in.

So selling old batteries to make a quick buck at the expense of customer satisfaction. That will pay dividends down the road...to the competition.

We are having inventory levels "adjusted". Many batteries are older then ever before. Closing store batteries coming in that should have been marked out after 18 months. Submitting help tickets to have core pallets picked up. Don't know the specific meanings of any of it but together it's a bad signal of customers no longer finding us relevant or capable of honoring the warranty

I just spoke with an employee in Automotive. Said the shelves are more and more empty each day with few replacements being shipped in.
