Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Bartlesville Layoffs and Closure

Although Bartlesville narrowly escaped this time, it's time is obviously limited. No new hires want to be stranded in Bartlesville and most of us want to transfer out of Bartlesville at first opportunity! Even our friends that were laid off in Bartlesville are happy with most already having found jobs in Tulsa or Dallas.

Employees are quiting because they find themselves trapped in Bartlesville with no way out. There is no hope of transferring out of Bartlesville. No one wants to buy a home here because it can be worthless next price downturn or layoff. Only thing to do is to spend time looking for opportunities elsewhere.

Why do we continue to keep a remote campus like Bartlesville open when it is so unpopular and so inefficient?

Bartlesville not closing is even a worse fate for those that work there.

I hope not. The only other industry in Bartlesville is meth labs and they don’t pay taxes.

Nobody will be buying your house if you get laid off. Might as well get the ball rolling. Enough talk, make it happen.

Who is keeping you there? Leave and find a job in Tulsa or Dallas. Problem solved.

If CoP left BVO, the town would disappear without the tax revenue.
